If you don’t live in a major city (or in Thailand), you’re probably not getting the amount of Thai food that you require and deserve. Any Asian-cuisine enthusiast living in rural America knows the struggle I’m referring to. While the city-dwellers yuck it up with Eastern cuisine galore, those of us out in America’s heartland have spent decades dreaming the fruitless dream of a Pad Kra Pao spot opening up in our town.

Sure, you could learn to adopt an entirely new cooking style to fill the umami void in your life, but there’s a better option―despite its longstanding horrible reputation, frozen Asian food is no longer taboo. In fact, 2026 might be the year of heat-and-eat cuisine from the East, and we have Tem Toa’s Chicken Pad Thai to largely thank for this best quick-fix food accomplishment since the invention of the microwave oven.

Let 2026 Be The Year Of Frozen Thai Food

We were floored by the vivid flavors in Tem Toa’s Chicken Pad Thai. Typically, frozen meals can never do the complex flavors of Thai food justice—especially when it comes to frozen pad thai—but Tem Toa brings the heat (albeit not too much heat) and plenty of sweetness, nuttiness, and fishy, umami goodness. There’s no shortage of crunchy peanuts, and although the vegetable-to-chicken ratio heavily favored veggies, this is still one of our favorite frozen chicken meals.

We detect marinated chicken, fresh lemongrass, and a spritz of zesty lime in this frozen pad thai―basically the same flavors you’d expect from your favorite take-out noodle spot. Speaking of, the noodles trumped even the tasty chicken and fresh herb, spice, and garlic taste in this frozen meal. They’re soft, but so stable and chewy that it’s hard to believe they were ever frozen.

Our Favorite Frozen Pad Thai

Tem Toa’s Chicken Pad Thai is actually one of a new line of Thai-style meals from Target, and honestly, all of them could pass for restaurant take-out. We rated each of the four meals at least 8.5 sporks, although the chicken pad thai is the one we’d keep stocking our freezers with. It’s our new favorite frozen pad thai, full stop. We weren’t quite as impressed with the two Thai-style curry dishes from Tem Toa―the sauce was on the watery side and they lacked the spiciness that the cuisine is famous for. Still, we wouldn’t be mad about sitting down to any one of these heat-and-eat meals after a long day.

If you’re not a meat fan, no worries. The veggie version is almost the same as our favorite chicken, just with tofu swapped in for the meat. The bean curd doesn’t quite hit the spot the way the juicy, tender poultry does, but we still gave it a coveted 9.5 sporks. Despite the lesser protein, the seasoning is just as savory and tangy, and the veggies taste equally as garden-fresh and sweet.
