The French Open is in full swing. And honestly? I kind of forgot about it. Not because I don’t like tennis (I love it, despite being totally incapable of hitting a single ball), but because I’ve spent most of my time focusing on the build-up to the World Cup and the parade of soccer-related food items that have been coming out.

But tennis can do food too, guys! And some of the biggest tennis stars of all time are leading the charge – including one 24-time Grand Slam winner, whose snack brand is entering the tortilla chip aisle. Game, set, match.
Cob Tortilla Chips
The tennis player is none other than Novak Djokovic, who is the co-founder of Cob, a snack brand based solely on sorghum. This lesser-used ancient cereal grain (which Cob promotes as gut-friendly, antioxidant-rich, and nutrient-packed) has proved to be quite versatile for the company, and up until now, they’ve been focusing on turning it into popcorn. It currently has four flavors of its sorghum popcorn, including a cacio e pepe variety that, by all accounts, is a bit of a mixed bag. If you’ll excuse the pun. Because bag, popcorn, bag of – okay, you got it.
Anyway! I digress. Now, Cob’s moving into the tortilla chip space. “Corn had a good run,” said Cob’s founder & CEO, Jess Davidoff, in a statement. “We built Cob to prove that sorghum can do everything corn does, and do it better. The tortilla chip is the next chapter of that story.” Cob Restaurant-Style Corn-Free Tortilla Chips are currently only offered in one flavor – and they’re also gluten-free, made with avocado oil, and extensively tested for pesticides and heavy metal contamination.
And They’re Available Now?
Yep, they’re available now – but at, we must say, a fairly hefty price. Cob Restaurant-Style Corn-Free Tortilla Chips retail at $9.99 per bag, and those bags weigh 7.5 ounces. That’s probably not hugely surprising, given that this is a fairly focused product, but yeah. Still pretty expensive.
It’s also worth pointing out that these tortilla chips are only available on the Cob website – so when we SAY that they’re coming to the chip aisle, we mean that big old aisle that is the internet. Nonetheless, you can get them now. And hey, maybe if you do, you’ll be able to win a Grand Slam or two. You might need to practise juuust a little bit first, but y’know. Small steps.
