There are moments in your life when you really get it put into context just how differently people live their lives. This was one of those moments for me. I myself am powerless to the siren call of a sweet little treat to end my night with. I’m learning though that there are people, like famous actor Timothée Chalamet, who choose a savory route for their late night snack. Hey, I guess the two of us couldn’t be similar in every single way.

What is Timothée’s late night snack of choice?
As the Marty Supreme actor revealed during a Wonka press junket back in 2023, his go-to midnight snack is Trader Joe’s Maître Pierre Tarte d’ Alsace. Never heard of it before? Neither had I! Trader Joe’s describes the Maitre Pierre Tarte d’ Alsace as “a French style flat bread with creme fraiche, ham, caramelized onions & Swiss-style gruyere cheese.” A far cry from a few spoonfuls straight from a pint of Ben & Jerry’s.
Okay, I bought my Maître Pierre Tarte d’ Alsace. How should I dig in?
Think of this as a French frozen pizza on a pastry crust. I’m sure that’s an over-simplification that will offend any true French person who’s reading this, but you can sound off in the comments with your feedback if needed.
Just cook it in the oven for 10 minutes at 450 degrees, slide it out, and slice it up—if you’ve really had a long day, you can dunk the slices in dijon mustard, a mayo-mustard Dijonnaise sort of combo, or even ranch dressing. I see the appeal of this as a midnight snack though. It’s giving breakfast for dinner vibes—in fact, if you have any leftovers, you can just heat them up when you wake up a few hours after your late night .
