Trader Joe’s New Autumn Cookie Drop Is A Hit

Fall’s here, and Trader Joe’s isn’t missing a trick. Over the last couple of weeks, the store has doubled down on its fall-themed items, including a lot – and I mean a lot – of pumpkin spice products and some items that are bearing some distinct harvest-y vibes (by which I mean they have the word “harvest” in their name). It’s also making a bunch of stuff that’s shaped like leaves (like pasta), which it’s done for a good few years now. Look, I’m all for novelty-shaped foods.

Especially when they taste good. TJ’s has just dropped new Autumn Leaf Sugar Cookies, and they’re getting some nice reviews. Put these on your coffee table next time your friends come over.

Trader Joe’s Autumn Leaf Sugar Cookies

Trader Joe’s Autumn Leaf Sugar Cookies are self-described by the brand as “whimsical,” and whimsical they certainly are. Coming in a couple of different shapes and shades of red and gold, these already-sugary cookies are given another dose of sweetness by the rock sugar studded into each one. The cookies themselves are pretty teeny, which isn’t necessarily a problem. Less margin for error and risk of doughy, undercooked interiors. It’s nice to see the presence of real butter, brown sugar, and egg yolk in the ingredients list, too. 

So far, these cookies are a winner with customers. “They taste like a mash-up between being a harder, thicker Christmas tin butter cookie and the almond cookie from Asian restaurants. They’re delicious,” said one person on Reddit. Another over on Instagram said that they were the “perfect fall treat.” The price isn’t too bad, either: It looks like you get about 56 cookies per $3.99 box. 

A Returning Favorite

Along with its new Autumn Leaf Sugar Cookies, Trader Joe’s has brought back its Fall Leaf Tortilla Chips – and I’d imagine there will be a lot of customers happy with that fact. These tortilla chips appear every year, and they hit every time, both thanks to their shape and their flavor. There’s nothing that’s especially different or unique about their recipe, but a lot of customers say that they’re better than the store’s regular tortilla chips. Is it their form? Are they fried differently? Is it just a trick of the mind? I have literally no idea, but I’m not about to contradict the masses. You can find those now for $3.99 per bag. Hey, make a season of it!
