A few times in my life, I’ve been asked what my “food trend pet peeve” is. The answer is always the same: Everything Needs To Be Everything. It can’t just be Capri-Sun; it has to be Capri-Sun with electrolytes. It can’t just be Pepsi; it has to be Pepsi with prebiotic fiber. It can’t just be Pop-Tarts; it has to be Pop-Tarts with protein.

That last genre is a major offender in good ole’ 2026; proteinmaxxing is the name of the game, and everyone wants a piece. These days, I give any “added protein” products an extra dose of clinical cynicism. That said, the brand that we’ll be covering today has actually been on the protein train a little longer than most. SPYLT launched their caffeine-boosted protein milks back in 2022, long before the advent of Protein Doritos.

While the brand has a slate of classic milk and milkshake flavors in their lineup, this is their first limited-edition flavor. SPYLT was nice enough to send over a few cans of their newest innovation; let’s find out whether Banana Protein Milk will have us tossing barrels like Donkey Kong.

SPYLT Caffeinated Banana Milk with Protein Review
SPYLT Caffeinated Protein Milk: Banana

New SPYLT Milk!

Every can of SPYLT Banana Milk contains 60mg of caffeine; a little less than an 8.4oz Red Bull, but nothing to sneeze at. Each can is also packed with 20 grams of protein, which I’m told is a good thing to have. (I’m qualified to speak on taste and texture, not macros.)

Pros: Y’all, it’s so easy to drink these things! I drank half a dozen cans before I even started taking notes for this review. While other protein drinks are anywhere from “a little thick” to “is this legally a liquid?”, this is smooth as hell. Between the familiar flavor and the less-than-insane caffeine boost, I found myself genuinely craving these to the point I may need to order more once I finish my sample stock.

If you like banana Laffy-Taffy as much as I do, this is going to change your life. If this drink was rewrapped with the Laffy-Taffy logo and no other changes, it’d make the podium for authentic collaboration of the year.

Cons: The artificial sweetener taste is pretty noticeable here, but it doesn’t offend me since the entire thing tastes artificial in the most nostalgic way. That said, not all of my taste-testers were on board the fake banana/fake sugar train as heartily as I am.

Where can I get my hands on SPYLT?

While this limited-edition banana flavor is only available on TikTok Shop and Amazon while supplies last, this brand seems to be hitting more retailers by the day. Currently, you can find all six of their classic drinks (Chocolate Milk, Chocolate Milk with Extra Caffeine, Vanilla Milkshake, Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Strawberry Milk) at the Kroger family of grocery stores.

Word to the wise: if you’re looking to try this brand for yourself, SPYLT just underwent a major rebranding. You may find their last design on shelves as they phase it out; that doesn’t mean those cans are too old to drink–check the best-by date on the bottom of the can if you’re worried. This new Banana flavor is the first flavor to roll out fully with the updated design; the previous flavors will be restocked with the new look as they sell out.
