These days, energy drinks seem to only get bigger and badder. What are those of us with a caffeine sensitivity and a responsible bedtime supposed to drink? We dug through our previous reviews and personal recommendations to find the best low caffeine energy drinks money can buy.

Since these drinks come in a variety of sizes, I’ll be sorting these by caffeine per ounce. Caffeine is identical in structure and effect regardless of source, so I won’t be calling out whether the caffeine is from a “natural source” or not. Naturally-derived caffeine is a buzzword (heh) you shouldn’t pay extra for. Now that the formalities are out of the way, let’s get sensibly caffeinated.
ADVANCED.gg Energy Drink Mix
We’re starting with a technicality on two fronts: ADVANCED.gg does not produce canned energy drinks like I’ll be focusing on for the rest of the list, but the powdered format actually allows for maximum control. Each scoop of their energy drink mix contains 100mg of caffeine (plus a range of vitamins and electrolytes). That said, if you’re so dialed into what your body needs that you can say “I only need 50mg of caffeine right now,” half a scoop will deliver that in as little or as much water as you like. The brand offers plenty of different low caffeine energy drink mixes; my personal favorite is their classic Rocket Pop flavor.
Liquid Death Sparkling Energy — 100mg Per 12oz Can
Liquid Death entered the energy drink space in 2026 with a simple description: Unextreme Caffeine. These 12oz cans contain half the caffeine per ounce of an Alani Nu or Celsius. Sold wherever you find Liquid Death’s other product lines, I expect we’ll see Liquid Death’s low caffeine energy drink line start participating in the company’s frequent wild brand collaborations in the near future. My favorite of the four initial flavors has to be the Cherry-Dr-Pepper-esque Murder Mystery.
BUM Energy — 112mg Per 12oz Can
You’d definitely recognize BUM Energy if you’ve spent any time in a Vitamin Shoppe. Despite having less caffeine per ounce than our next two entries, this bodybuilder-backed energy drink contains the most caffeine per can of this entire list. With familiar flavors like Iced Tea Lemonade, Dr. BUM, and Cola, BUM Energy has built up a healthy niche as a coffee substitute. You can’t go wrong trying any of the previously listed low caffeine energy drink flavors, but my all-time favorite is their Root Beer.
Red Bull — 80mg Per 8.4oz Can
Believe it or not, one of the biggest energy drink brands is also one of the less caffeinated! The 8.4oz Red Bull contains just 80 milligrams of caffeine–around a fourth of what you’ll find in a 16oz can of the high-octane C4 Ultimate Energy. Red Bull is easily the most widely available energy drink on this list; with their huge selection of low caffeine energy flavors and formats, there’s no shortage of options. Sometimes, you can’t beat a classic. For posterity, my personal favorites are their Coconut Berry or Iced Vanilla Berry offerings.
V8 Energy — 80mg Per 8oz Can
Yes, V8 makes low caffeine energy drinks! With the same caffeine content as a Red Bull in a slightly smaller container, V8 Energy is technically more caffeinated. Unlike Red Bull, a can of V8 Energy also delivers a combined serving of fruit and veggies plus a healthy dose of Vitamin C. Available in both sparkling and non-sparkling, there’s over a dozen flavors plus a new line of powdered mixes for on-the-go energizing. If you need a place to start, check out the non-sparkling Strawberry Banana offering.
