Entenmann’s corn muffins have left an indelible impression on a lot of people. The baked goods brand’s version of this staple food was, by all accounts, seriously good: Perfect slathered with salted butter or served with a chili, to call them comforting would be an understatement. But all good things, sadly, must come to an end – and when Entenmann’s dropped its corn muffins from its roster, it left a lot of folks mourning their loss.

Until now. Well, kinda. Trader Joe’s has just dropped a new muffin, right on time for the holidays – and it’s got a couple of people feeling nostalgic, and a couple more feeling excited.

Trader Joe’s Cornbread Muffins

This week, Trader Joe’s has dropped its new Cornbread Muffins, and they’re already causing quite the stir. Coming in a four-pack for $5.49 apiece, each plump muffin is made with corn kernels and honey (so, expect them to be on the sweeter side), and topped with cornmeal for a little extra crunch. They’re a limited-time item, and probably unlikely to stick around longer than a few months – once the holidays are through, I’d expect these to disappear, so get them sooner rather than later if you’re interested.

Upon their release, Trader Joe’s customers instantly started comparing them to the long-lost Entenmann’s version on Reddit. “They were delicious and I am hoping these are similar,” said one person, with another chiming in to say how much they missed them. Not to put the pressure on you, Trader Joe’s, but you’ve clearly got some pretty big shoes to fill. At present, it looks as though there’s a fairly slow roll-out on these – TJ’s shoppers in LA have reported trying several stores to find them, to no avail – but we’re sure it won’t be long until everyone’s recreating their Entenmann’s-based fantasies.

Serving Style

These corn muffins would, of course, be a great addition to your holiday table, either in place of dinner rolls or alongside them – or you could break them up and use them in stuffing. Given that this is the season of coziness, though, there’s no sense in waiting that long to use them! Cook up a beef stew and serve them on the side, or split them open and pile in some pulled pork. Or, make yourself a twist on an egg muffin for a Saturday morning treat – maybe with some sausage and bacon in there too. Speaking of which, I should start planning my breakfast for tomorrow.
