I would go to war for Trader Joe’s—in the proverbial sense, not like a real war (we don’t like those). The point is, I love my buddy Trader Joe’s, and maybe you do, too. And TJ’s is showing us some serious love in return by dropping a new dairy-free ice cream option, and it sounds chocolatier than any dairy-free ice cream I’ve ever seen. Its name is Trader Joe’s Very Chocolatey with Fudge Brownies. And I want to go to there.
What’s in Trader Joe’s gloriously chocolatey-seeming new dairy-free ice cream?
Well, not dairy, I’ll tell you that. And also not nuts. So both dairy-free and nut-free people can partake! What is in this fantastic vegan and lactose intolerant-friendly frozen concoction? Well, it apparently contains: Oat milk, fudge brownies, Dutch processed cocoa (the same kind that goes into Oreo cookies), sugar, and a touch of salt, among some other ingredients that are neither dairy nor nuts.
In conclusion: I’m sold. I would like this in my mouth now, please and thanks. This isn’t the first time Trader Joe’s has slayed the vegan ice cream game. Their Black Tea and Boba dairy-free ice cream was a big hit with the Sporked crew; their Chocolate Coconut Milk Ice Cream is delicious; and I’ve only heard good things about their Strawberry Non-Dairy Oat Frozen Dessert.
All this being said, I’m super excited for a chocolate oat-based option! Personally, I think oat milk and chocolate go together like Mario and Luigi: People love them for different reasons, one is definitely more popular than the other (not naming names), and together, they’re a guaranteed fun time. Anywho, I’m off to TJ’s to pick up some of this seriously delicious-sounding chocolate treat. Okie dokie, it’s ice cream time!
