Each week brings news of the never-ending revolve of products at Trader Joe’s, and the past seven days have been no different. Items like its new cherry almond kringle and meringue dessert shells have caused a stir amongst its online community – and given that its Reddit page is one of the most reliable sources of nonpartisan reviews on its foods out there, it’s a place we check in with regularly to see what people are saying about all these new arrivals.

Well, Trader Joe’s has delivered yet again, with its new crepes – and we’ve got the lowdown on what people are saying about them. Spoiler alert: They aren’t a universal win.

Trader Joe’s New “PB & J” Filled Crepes

A couple of days ago, a Trader Joe’s customer on Reddit spotted the store’s new “PB & J” Filled Crepes, which clock in at $3.99 for six individual pancakes filled with peanut butter spread and strawberry filling. The quotation marks around the PB & J part made us think this one might be an imitation or take on the flavor profile, which we wouldn’t put past this chain – but no, it’s a peanut butter and jelly vibe. However, the “spread” and “filling” of it all is telling.

The problem is that there doesn’t seem to be that much of either of those ingredients. “They are okay. There isn’t much filling,” said one customer on Reddit. Another said that these are “good, not great,” and that they prefer the hazelnut version of TJ’s crepes. And, in case you felt that the opinions of Redditors can be a little biased, other people in further parts of the internet haven’t been impressed, either. “These aren’t worth it for me. The texture of the crepe is just meh,” said a review from Daily Waffle. “I’m not expecting them to be like homemade or fresh off the crepe pan. But these were kind of dry, not particularly eggy or buttery (though the ingredient list claims both!). Just meh.” Oh dear.

So…Does Anyone Like It?

Yes, they do! Despite these criticisms, there have been some positive reviews of these crepes, with people enjoying their grab-and-go nature – and a couple of people have said that their kids enjoy them (although not all kids seem to). So…it’s not that this new product is bad. It just doesn’t seem to be a knockout. But does everything you buy need to be a mind-blowing success? Maybe not.
