Not all Trader Joe’s chips are created equal – but generally speaking, their track record is pretty good. While there are some missteps in the TJ’s chip range (and some may worsen over time, according to customers), the grocery store is usually pretty good at releasing snacks that its customers – and we – enjoy.

In 2026, that’s no different. Trader Joe’s has been releasing new chips at a fairly consistent lick, with its Ranch Flavored Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips going down a storm with us back in March. Now, another new product is being received very warmly by its shoppers. Well, some of them, anyway. And we’re gonna tell you what that is…right now!

Trader Joe’s Sea Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips With Avocado Oil

Yes, lovers of a salty-sour flavor profile will probably want to head down to Trader Joe’s imminently, as its Sea Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips with Avocado Oil are winning rave reviews from a lot of corners. In the last couple of days, a Reddit thread discussing the virtues of these chips has been inundated with a bunch of positive reviews. “Killed a whole bag to myself yesterday. No regrets,” stated one person, with another saying, “Got them yesterday and I love them.”

Apparently, these chips, which cost $2.99 per bag, have a pretty balanced vinegar flavor in comparison to other salt & vinegar options. As a lover of salt & vinegar myself, what with it being one of the biggest flavors over here in the UK, this is nice to hear: A lot of the time, the acidity in these chips can be simply way too overwhelming, and make eating them more of a chore than anything. Not so with TJ’s new offer, apparently.

And The Downsides?

Well, here’s where things might not look totally rosy. Some customers have noted that their chips taste a little stale, which could well be down to the avocado oil Trader Joe’s has used to make them. One person noted that the oil flavor drowned out any of the other notes in the chips – and some have also said that they’re not salty enough.

Again, if you prefer your chips not to be too intense and beat you over the head with flavor, this might be a preferable thing in your book. That oil taste might be a bit harder to stomach, though. Here’s hoping you get a good batch.
