Uncrustables are one of those IYKYK kinds of foods. For years, I was like, why the HELL would I need a premade peanut butter and jelly sandwich?? That takes like five seconds! But then I did a full taste test of all the Uncrustables flavors and it clicked. I can’t stress enough that I truly believe human beings do most things better than machines, but the machines at the Uncrustables factory are NAILING IT. The perfect squishy white bread. The perfect peanut butter-to-jelly ratio and distribution of each. A handsome scalloped seal—I almost never say “no notes” because I typically have at least a note, but (most) Uncrustables are no-notes foods for me.

If you love Uncrustables as much as I clearly do, I have some good news. Smucker’s just quietly released two new flavors: Uncrustables Peanut Butter & Chocolate and Uncrustables Blackberry Boom.

Hey wait, don’t Peanut Butter & Chocolate Uncrustables already exist?

Well, yes and no. Smucker’s currently makes PB Choco Craze Uncrustables, but those are made with peanut butter and a chocolate hazelnut spread (think: their take on Nutella). They also have a variety that’s only filled with a Nutella-style chocolate-hazelnut spread. Neither is quite the same as this new release, which doesn’t have any hazelnut in the mix. It’s probably worth mentioning that the full Christian name of these new Uncrustables is “Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavored Sandwich Spread,” so not straight-up chocolate but a “chocolate flavored” substance.

The other flavor is more straight-forward. Uncrustables Blackberry Boom are made with peanut butter and a blackberry spread that I’m assuming is seedless. I love the flavor of blackberry jam, but the seeds are kind of annoying.

When and where can I get the new flavors? I’M STARVING FOR A SQUISHY SANDWICH.

According to Candy Hunting on Instagram, both new Uncrustables flavors should be in stores soon, but there are some caveats: Blackberry Boom will be at grocery chains across the country, BUT it’s a limited edition flavor, so you gotta grab it when you see it. The chocolate-peanut butter Uncrustables will only be available at Walmart stores.

Oh and if freezer space has ever kept you from picking up a box of these oversized PB&J ravioli, we’re pleased to report that Uncrustables is updating its whole line so they can be kept in the refrigerator rather than the freezer (although, you can still freeze them if you want to). The new fridge-friendly Uncrustables aren’t rolling out until this summer, but these two new flavors are, in fact, fridge friendly.

Gwynedd Stuart

Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks. Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction. Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home. Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
