Hooray for CAFFEEEEINE!!! Ahem, sorry, I had a lot of coffee. In fact, I tried every single product from Death Wish Coffee, the company famous for packing extra caffeine into its organic, fair-trade beans. They make everything from pre-ground coffees to canned iced drinks to cold brew, all from specially selected Arabica and Robusta beans. And no, you don’t have to special-order these high-octane brews. In fact, you’ll find Death Wish at national chains like Walmart and Target.

After taste-testing every product from the caffeine-focused company, I picked out the best of the best. These aren’t the drinks with the most of America’s favorite drug, mind you―these are the Death Wish products that taste the best, according to an ex-barista and self-proclaimed coffee fanatic.

Blueberry-Flavored Coffee

I usually don’t opt for flavored coffees, but when I do, I almost always go blueberry. It’s a severely underrated coffee flavor, and Death Wish does it justice with their take on the fruity brew. The blueberry they use has a slightly tart, tangy taste and a hint of vanilla that pairs well with the robust coffee, making it nice and complex. Try this one with plenty of sweetener and half-and-half or extra-creamy oat milk to help it reach its maximum potential.

Classic Cold Brew Lattes

I usually avoid canned coffees since they tend to be packed with sugar, but Death Wish’s Classic Cold Brew Lattes only have four grams of added sugar per can. The cold brew coffee is bold enough to not get drowned out by plenty of milk, yet it still goes down extra smooth. I also tried the flavored versions (vanilla, mocha, and caramel), but I preferred the roasty flavor and gentle creaminess of the classic latte. Plus, it tasted perfectly sweetened while the others were just a tad too sugar-forward.

Medium Roast Coffee

I got my hands on every roast level of classic Death Wish, and the medium roast was by far the most balanced with the signature smoky, bold flavor that the company’s beans are known for. This brew was nice and smooth served black, but it takes well to some sugar or other sweetener and whatever milk you like in your coffee. I even experimented with some monk fruit sweetener and agave just to shake things up and the chocolatey, nutty notes still came through nicely.

Unsweetened Cold Brew

This is the kind of coffee product you want to keep stocked in your home or office fridge for when you’re really, really slogging through the afternoon. It’s brewed for 18 hours, which is prime brewing time for the perfect cold brew. It’s smooth enough to drink black, but for the ultimate wake-up, it’s best with just a splash of cream—no sugar. Trust me on that. Still, it’s potent enough to act as a substitute for espresso in iced lattes or Americanos if you feel like playing barista.

Caramel-Coconut-Flavored Coffee

I regret to inform you that this is a limited-time-only flavor because it was my favorite of all the Death Wish flavored brews. Normally I’d pass on a coconut-and-coffee combo, but it’s subtle enough here that the coconut adds just a little nuttiness and a hint of tropical essence. Meanwhile, the caramel and the heavy body give the coffee a rich, syrupy backbone and plenty of sweetness—so feel free to skip out on the sugar. Add a little chocolate syrup to your cup if you want to have even more fun with it.
