Just this past week, Dutch Bros officially announced and integrated its new fall menu to stores nationwide. Not only did it feature the return of their classic and beloved Caramel Pumpkin Brûlée and Cookie Butter flavors, but it also saw the debut of a brand new Autumn Berry flavor. The Autumn Berry flavor uses pomegranate, orange, and peach flavors as well as a berry topping to emulate the juicy and rich flavors of in-season produce and is available as a lemonade, a Rebel Energy Drink, or a Myst Energy Refresher.

And honestly, with a flavor as unique and succulent sounding as the Autumn Berry flavor, we here at Sporked knew that we’d have to get our hands on the new flavor and see if it was actually as good as it sounds. So without further ado, here’s what we thought.

A Delightful New Flavor Hitting The Autumn Menus

Pros — After seemingly years of redundant fall flavors, we’ve been begging for these big coffee shops to do something new. And, the “refresher” scene has been begging to be, well, refreshed! We’ve simply had enough strawberry, mango, and dragon fruit flavors to fill an ocean, and Dutch Bros finally gave us something that made it worth going out of our way to try a new refresher for.

The thing is, all fruit is pretty darn refreshing, so we needed to see some different fruit flavors entering the refresher landscape. Especially with the seasonal choice of using a pomegranate flavor, Dutch Bros has given us exactly that. But beyond the delight of a new flavor entering the scene, it still has to taste good and meld nicely with the flavors they’re combining it with. Luckily for us, this couldn’t have been executed better. It’s one thing for something to sound fun, new, and delicious. But it’s another thing entirely when that actually translates to each sip.

The combination of pomegranate, peach, and orange comes together beautifully to offer something complex enough to not only be fruity and delicious, but not scream “summer” at every turn. Even the berry topping (which are typically throw away flavors and textures in a refresher-type drink) was wonderful and lovely. In fact, it actually added to the well-rounded and full-bodied flavor of the drink. The pieces were small enough to pass through the straw, but didn’t get stuck in our teeth. And, the berry topping was almost jammy making it super luscious to get rippled throughout our drink.

Cons — It’s pretty hard to come up with cons for this drink since it was simply executed so well. But, if I had to say one thing it’d be that if you’re someone who doesn’t appreciate the sweetness of refreshers or any fruity drink of that nature, then you might not love this one. It is sweet, hands down. But if that’s something you’re used to and appreciate about these drinks, then I must insist you try out this new flavor. We’ll be sipping on as many as we can this season and it will be missed greatly when it’s phased out.
