It’s been an exciting summer season for Starbucks so far. They’ve brought back the fan-favorite S’mores Frappuccino, released a charity collection of spirulina drinks with Get Blue, introduced the dual-toned Tropical Butterfly Refresher with popping boba, and have been teasing the return of the Unicorn Frappuccino. The company’s been busy, but the beverage machine is tireless. The upcoming launch brings the blended nature of the Frappuccinos everyone knows and loves and is using it to elevate the refreshers into something even more perfect for summer.
Three New Drinks
I don’t know about you, but anything moderately resembling a fruity smoothie just screams summer. The new Blended Energy Refreshers offer that taste of refreshing temperature in combination with bright fruit flavors. So, it’s basically just a caffeinated smoothie, right? Well, I don’t know if we could really go so far as to call it healthy, but they certainly do tick a lot of boxes. The three flavors included in the new launch are the Blended Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Energy Refresher, the Blended Mango Strawberry Lemonade Energy Refresher, and the Blended Pink Energy Drink.
Each of these new drinks has a variable caffeine content, customizable by the customer. They’re blended with either coconut milk (like the standard mix-in for the pink drink) or lemonade, as well as ice and real fruit pieces. The thing that defines these drinks from their shaken counterparts is the dreamy chilled texture they offer. And while this launch certainly isn’t anything revolutionary, it brings nuance and variety to a category of Starbucks drinks that hasn’t had much expanse into other formats, whilst their flavors change regularly.
I’m stoked to try these drinks, personally, especially since I could grab one in the afternoon when I’m craving some caffeine, but I can customize it so that it doesn’t extend into coffee levels of caffeination. Plus, these sound so much more refreshing! I mean, my favorite refresher is already the Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher. And now, it’s going to be even fruitier and even cooler. What’s there not to be excited about? These new drinks will hit Starbucks stores on July 14th to keep us chilled at peak summer season.
