Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out this week and the brands are in full collaboration mode! Takis got spider-fied, Poppi’s partnering to sling some webs, and now McDonald’s gets some Spider-Man figures to dish out. There’s just one catch. They’re not handing them out anywhere near us!

You’ll Find Them Overseas
News account @snackolator broke the news that McDonald’s just released four Spider-Man collectibles. As of now, you’ll only find them in a few markets. I was able to find them marketed in the Philippines and Malaysia. McDonald’s Singapore also had a post about the accompanying Happy Meal toys so they presumably also have the figures as well. The short of it all is that we’re getting shafted.
This Is A Big Deal!
We’re really missing out on a unique product here! The four Spider-Man figures (hammock Spider-Man, side hang Spider-Man, crouching Spider-Man, and upside down Spider-Man) are a rarity for McDonald’s. They’re a substantial size and have a clean look to them. I really love the combo of Spider-Man with the Golden Arches!
They’re available separate from the Happy Meal toys so you don’t have to go through the awkward song and dance of buying a Happy Meal as a 32 year old man (speaking from experience). At the same time though, McDonald’s is also dropping a set of Happy Meal toys alongside the figures. The keychain x web launchers come in 10 different color schemes.
I appreciate McDonald’s giving both groups their own way to participate in the drop. Now, if only they’d bring things over here so we could partake, too.
Bye Bye Blind Box
McDonald’s is doing something amazing with this drop. You actually get to pick which of the four figures that you want! Way to buck the blind box trend, McDonald’s. What a relief! As for how to get the actual figures, some countries are allowing you to buy the figures separately from any food and some have turned it into their own meal deal.
It’s hard to see others having fun without us. I’m not saying these are worth a trip across the globe on their own. But if anyone happens to be in a country that has these, I’d love to get one sent my way. Surely we can figure out some sort of trade. For now, we’ll just creep around social media for all the lucky ducks that get to enjoy these beautiful figures. Ugh.
