Finally, I can cook fast food bacon at home. Gone are the days of ordering bulk bags of Dunkin’ Snacking Bacon to survive the week. Because the good people at Wendy’s are now offering slabs of double-smoked bacon at your local grocery store. Well, maybe not your local grocery store. Read on for my review of Wendy’s grocery store bacon and for the very specific regions in which you can find this bacon for yourself!

Wendy’s Double-Smoked Bacon

New Product!

Wendy’s Double-Smoked Bacon

Pros: These are solid thick-cut bacon strips that don’t need additional seasoning (or cereal branding) to be good. I’m not a bacon superfan, but this is what I want all bacon to be when it’s offered. Topping an at-home Wendy’s burger with a couple strips of this did result in a decent Baconator substitute.

Cons: Y’all, it’s pretty difficult to write about bacon when the only interesting thing about it is the logo on the packaging. If you served this to someone as part of a breakfast spread, they’d never think it came from a fast food company. And that’s a downside if you’re paying a little extra for it.

Conclusion: I think this bacon is actually better than what you’ll get from Wendy’s. It seems thicker than what I’ve gotten on Wendy’s burgers in the past. But, while Wendy’s is reliably the best fast-food place to get bacon on a burger, I’m not sure that entitles them to sell their own bacon.

Where can I get Wendy’s Double-Smoked Bacon?

Until further notice, these bacon strips are exclusively available at Kroger and King Soopers’ stores in Columbus, Ohio and Denver, Colorado. If the consumer response is strong in these two test markets, we may see these bacon strips and the corresponding Wendy’s ground beef patties in stores nationwide. I did my part by buying one pack of each; the rest is up to you, Denverites and Columbusians.
