Today brings difficult news for Wendy’s-loving children across the United States. The next time they beg their caretakers to turn into the drive-thru for a burger and a Frosty, their caretakers will be able to say, “We have that at home,” and really mean it. Yep. Wendy’s has rolled out another grocery drop with new Wendy’s Ground Beef Patties. In defense of Wendy’s loving children, you will never be able to make a Frosty at home…unless you have Wendy’s connections and can get your hands on the Frosty mix, in which case, hit me up. But back to the burgs…
What’s Wendy-fied about these Wendy’s beef patties?
From the looks of it, the only Wendy-fication of the burger patty going on here is that it assumes the famous wavy-square patty shape and, of course, the patties are fresh, never frozen. There doesn’t appear to be seasoning on the patties, which leads me to believe that this Wendy’s drop may not be as satisfying as their first grocery drop, Wendy’s Chili, which was the runner up in Sporked’s best canned chili ranking. It may be just a normal burger shaped like something from a cartoon. Which I guess is still fun, especially if you’re feeding people who still watch cartoons.
When are Wendy’s burger patties coming to the grocery store?
Wendy’s beef patties have already been spotted at Kroger and King Soopers, per @snackolator on Instagram. According to USA Today, Wendy’s is testing out the product in Columbus, Ohio, and Denver, Colorado, markets before considering expansion. I guess the rest of us have to depend on the people of Columbus and Denver to buy enough of these burgers that we may one day get the chance to experience their wavy deliciousness.
Wendy’s patties actually don’t come pre-seasoned, at least at corporate stores. They’re just salted after hitting the grill. Then, of course , the famous 4 corner press, flip, salt again, and that’s it.
