Could you resist starting your day with gravy and cheese curds? (I couldn’t.)

The most beloved Canadian delicacy (besides all dressed up potato chips) has to be poutine, a dish made from French fries smothered in brown gravy and cheese curds. It’s a delicious mix of rich, salty goodness, and even better than it’s American cousin, disco fries.

And now Wendy’s Canada is officially adding the dish to its breakfast menu, although only for a limited time.

Poutine: It’s What’s for Breakfast (for a Limited Time)

The new Wendy’s Breakfast Poutine is basically a riff on their Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes, which are seasoned with black pepper and garlic powder. The new poutine comes in two different forms:

  • Classic Breakfast Poutine: Basically, an order of Wendy’s Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes, covered in gravy and Canadian cheese curds.
  • Swiss Cheese Breakfast Poutine: Those Wendy’s Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes, covered in Canadian cheese curds, but instead of the gravy, you get a creamy Swiss cheese sauce.

You can also add two strips of bacon to your poutine for an extra charge.

How Long Will Breakfast Poutine Last?

They started selling Breakfast Poutine throughout Canada on May 4th. They have confirmed that it’s a limited time item, but there’s no word on how long it’ll last. Although, we should add that Wendy’s Canada already offers a different version of poutine made with their regular fries on their regular menu. So, there’s no reason why this couldn’t become a permanent breakfast option.

Maybe we just have to ask nicely? That’s the Canadian way, right?
