“I herald its beginning, I herald your end, I herald…blue milk.” That line was cut from the recent film Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s a shame because TruMoo Fantastic Berry Milk is definitely going to be the end of me. I’ve had this blue milk on my to-review list since the day it was announced, and I just now found a half-gallon.

Movies are being promoted with colorful milk now?

Yes, quite regularly. TruMoo appears to be the innovator of the modern movie-tie in milk with multiple examples to date. TruMoo released a Star Wars-branded vanilla blue milk last summer; I wasn’t ever able to find that one in stores. After that, there was a Moana 2-branded pink milk that tasted like strawberry banana—very Trix yogurt of them. And now we have a berry-flavored blue milk to celebrate Marvel Studios’ recent attempt to make us all forget they made Eternals

The jug of TruMoo Fantastic Berry Milk I found was the last one on the shelf and the sell-by date is today, so we need to be quick about this one. Let’s pour a big glass of bright blue milk and see if it quells the Galactus-esque hunger I have for the era of foods made in the wrong color on purpose.

New Blue Milk!

TruMoo Fantastic Berry Milk

Pros: This is definitely a light blue 1% milk that tastes like berries; TruMoo succeeded at everything they set out to do. I enjoyed this more the warmer it got—a very strange compliment to give milk, but fridge-cold did not do the flavor any favors.

Cons: The scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should. First off, 1% milk is perhaps the worst kind of milk. I’ve now had two different fruit-flavored milks from TruMoo, and I’m truly not convinced this concept will ever work. I know kefir is practically fruit-flavored milk, but at least that acknowledges fruit is yogurt’s territory—milk needs to step off.

How much longer will I be able to get Fantastic Berry blue milk?

If my strenuous hunt to find a jug is any indication, it might already be too late. You’d think the milk would be stocked at least through the first few weeks of the movie’s release, but there’s no guarantee we’ll see another run of this milk. I found mine at Giant Eagle at the very end of the milk section; check near to the TruMoo chocolate milk jugs at your preferred grocery store.
