The best skyr is creamy, rich, and chock-full of dairy. At least that’s what I’ve learned after tasting a bunch of Icelandic yogurts. To be honest, I didn’t really know what Icelandic yogurt was before this taste test. Sure, I’d had Siggi’s and I’d heard the term “skyr” thrown around, but I didn’t really know anything about it. If you also don’t know anything about skyr, you can read about the thick, icelandic-style yogurt here!
Now I’m practically a professional Icelandic yogurt consumer. A senior advisor giving the say-so on skyr, if you will. If you’re not buying Icelandic yogurt (aka skyr), you’re not living. It’s so phenomenal. I thought Greece reigned supreme in this realm, but I was very, very wrong. Put down whatever yogurt you’re eating right now, and go to the grocery store to buy these yogurts.

- Siggi’s Raspberry Skyr
-
As you might’ve noticed, Siggi’s was not our favorite skyr, despite being the most popular Icelandic yogurt on the market. While I wouldn’t buy most of what Siggi’s makes, this raspberry flavor does have a nice tang and creaminess for a non-fat yogurt. If you insist on buying non-fat skyr, definitely buy this one. But trust me, you don’t want to buy non-fat skyr, because it is nothing compared to the real deal, full-fat stuff.

- Thor’s Plain Skyr
-
Forget using Greek yogurt as a sour cream replacement. Use Icelandic yogurt! Thor’s Plain Skyr, specifically. It’s so thick and sour cream-like. This would rule on top of a baked potato or cheese enchilada. Don’t get me wrong, though. If you’re a plain yogurt eater in general, this is great for breakfast or a snack. A drizzle of honey and some fresh fruit would be delicious paired with this skyr if you prefer a sweet-but-not-too-sweet yogurt option.

- Icelandic Provisions Cold Brew Coffee Extra Creamy Skyr Whole Milk Yogurt
-
I hate coffee and still I couldn’t argue with the fact that Icelandic Provisions Cold Brew Coffee Skyr tastes really, really good. Imagine how bonkers you’d go for this yogurt if you actually enjoyed the taste of coffee. Once again, Icelandic Provisions is giving some of the creamiest, richest, most flavorful, and best skyr on the market. This is another yogurt that could sub in for dessert.

- Icelandic Provisions Peach & Cloudberry Thick & Creamy Skyr
-
In the fruity yogurt department, Icelandic Provisions Peach and Cloudberry Skyr is a close second to Thor’s Strawberry Skyr. The authentic peach flavor is wonderful. It doesn’t taste artificial at all. Do I know what a cloudberry is? No! But it’s delicious. This yogurt tastes like summer. This would be incredible in a parfait or as a quick breakfast on the go. Icelandic Provisions makes some of the best Icelandic yogurts out there, and you should add them to your grocery haul rotation.

- Icelandic Provisions Coconut Thick & Creamy Skyr
-
Icelandic Provisions Coconut Skyr is my personal favorite yogurt we tried during our skyr taste test. Not only does it have a wonderful, creamy base and a fantastic coconut flavor, but it also contains real pieces of coconut. The texture is incredible. And believe it or not, I’m not even a huge coconut person! That’s how good this yogurt is, in my opinion. Luckily, right now, my opinion is all that matters in this article.

- Thor’s Strawberry Skyr
-
If you need fruit with your yogurt, Thor’s Strawberry Skyr is the best skyr out theret. Like its vanilla counterpart, it’s creamy and rich. The strawberry flavor is fresh and fruity. This would be great topped with sliced bananas, fresh blueberries, or a sprinkle of granola. You could spread this on toast or a bagel because it’s so thick it’s almost cream cheese-y. This is one of the best fruit-flavored yogurts in general, so it’s also obviously the best skyr Icelandic yogurt, too.

- Thor’s Vanilla Skyr
-
Thor’s Vanilla Skyr is basically the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. It is so creamy and rich, and speckled with vanilla bean. There’s no weird, chemically alcohol taste that vanilla-flavored products often have. This yogurt is so decadent, it’s practically a dessert. But don’t let that stop you from eating it for breakfast! Eat this anytime, anywhere. It’s perfection.
