Milano cookies don’t last long in my house. No matter the flavor, I have to keep a close eye on any new flavors I bring home for review; otherwise, I’ll get my work stock pilfered by the cookie scavengers in my life. Luckily, our friends at Pepperidge Farm sent over two bags of their new Pumpkin Spice Milano cookies so I wouldn’t have to defend my stash as carefully. Let’s open up this autumn favorite and see how the classiest cookie handles the most common trend.
How do you flavor a Milano? Isn’t it just chocolate?
There’s a few different methods depending on the cookie. The Pumpkin Spice Milano cookies I’m reviewing today have two layers of filling: one pumpkin spice-flavored creme and one milk chocolate; that’s a pretty common method. But earlier this year, Pepperidge Farm launched a trio of Milanos with a single layer of fruit-flavored “white chocolate.”
The one method Pepperidge Farm hasn’t opted for (in recent years, anyway) is to flavor the cookie itself. Many years ago, there was a chocolate-cookie’d Raspberry Chocolate Milano; I would love to see chocolate Milano cookies reenter the Pepperidge Farm canon ASAP.
What’s the next Milano cookie flavor?
Good news: We won’t have to wait long. Pumpkin Spice is only one of two perfectly-seasonal flavors Pepperidge Farm is releasing this season. The other Milano hitting shelves now? Chai Latte. Folks, I’m counting down the seconds until I get my hands on a bag of those. Keep your eyes here on Sporked for my review coming ASAP.
