Fiber keeps us regular, but nature’s broom has other benefits like supporting a healthy gut microbiome and balancing blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Meanwhile, bread has the benefits of supporting our sandwich ingredients and being a vehicle for butter. A high-fiber bread that combines the best of both worlds? It sounds too good to be true.
But it’s not! Today there are plenty of high fiber bread brands, and a lot of them actually taste pretty darn good. How do I know? Because I tried them, of course! Like a queen, I sat surrounded by loaves upon loaves of bread to test them all for you. I tasted all of these breads plain—first untoasted, then toasted, without any spreads or toppings.
What do we mean when we say “high fiber” bread? Well, a typical slice of white bread contains a negligible amount of fiber. A slice of wheat bread usually contains around 2g of fiber. So we aimed for breads that had more fiber than that. You’ll find moderately high fiber bread on this list as well as seriously high fiber bread.
Now, full of bread and love (redundant), I present you with the best high fiber bread options I tried.

- Ezekiel 4:9 Flax Flourless Sprouted Grain Bread (3g fiber / 1 slice)
-
It seems that whoever developed this bread was a “more is more” type of person, since this loaf is so chock-full of mix-ins that there’s hardly any room for bread! Do I feel like I’m eating birdseed? A little. But hey, birds get to do cool mating dances instead of having to go on Tinder. Maybe they’re onto something. As for the bread, I think it has too much going on to be a good general sandwich vessel, but toasted with butter? I’m for it. And while 3g of fiber isn’t the most fiber per serving on this list, keep in mind that the fiber comes from super wholesome ingredients like flaxseed and sprouted barley. Plus, there are also other good-for-your-digestion inclusions like sprouted lentils.

- Nature’s Own Wheat Protein (9g fiber / 2 slices)
-
How do we know we are living in the future? It’s not the breakthroughs in quantum computing or gene editing, it’s that we can get 22 grams of protein from just two slices of bread. With so much protein and just 4.5g net carbs plus 9g of fiber per two-piece serving, I assumed this keto-friendly bread would taste like butts. But I was wrong! I mean, it doesn’t rival a fresh-baked baguette, but it’s totally passable. Untoasted, the bread is thick and spongy without a ton of flavor. It’s a little chewy, but it’s a great canvas for any toppings. And it toasts up great. If you are all-in on macros, this is the best low carb high fiber bread to buy.

- Dave’s Killer Powerseed (4g fiber / 1 slice)

Dave’s Killer Powerseed bread is a slow burn. The first untoasted bite was generally underwhelming, but it developed a little bit of a tang as I kept chewing. It’s no sourdough, but it’s enough to add intrigue. When toasted, it gets a little crumby and trades in some sourness for bitterness, but it actually works well with the bread to give a deep, mature flavor to the bite.

Sometimes I’m looking for bread with some body. I don’t want to feel like I’m a lioness tearing off parts of carrion, but I respect a bread that sticks around for a few chews instead of melting or disintegrating in my mouth. Untoasted, this bread had the right amount of spring to feel substantial without being unpleasant or rubbery, and also had a very slight but tasty tang. Both of these qualities stayed put even after toasting, although it did get a touch more bitter. If you want your bread to have some fight to it, this is the best high fiber bread to buy.

- Pepperidge Farm 15 Grain (6g fiber / 2 slices)
-
Like most kids, I preferred Wonderbread to anything whole wheat. I understand now that it was probably because Wonderbread tastes, comparatively, like cake. I’ve grown to love the deep flavor and texture of multigrain breads, and this exemplifies the best parts of what my current palate and digestive system prefers. Untoasted, I really appreciate the crunch from the seeds and the slight bitterness upon first bite, especially because there’s a sweetness that comes in at the end. Toasting brings out that sweetness even more, and the crispy bread plays well with the texture of the seeds. If you’re looking for the best tasting bread that is high in fiber (comparatively speaking) this is the brand to buy.
