Red pint, blue pint, pink pint, new pint! The master of tongue-twisting rhymes is pairing up with the most difficult to pronounce ice cream brands to create three new ice cream flavors. It’s Dr. Seuss x Van Leeuwen ice cream. Here’s everything we know about this unlikely collab.
What are the 3 new Van Leeuwen x Dr. Seuss ice cream flavors?
Even though I hilariously parodied One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish at the beginning of this article, these new ice creams are all inspired by The Cat in the Hat. Per @Markie_Devo on Instagram, the flavors are:
- Double Trouble Berry Thing: The light blue pint features Thing One and a kite. How do I know it’s Thing One? I’m assuming, because the next flavor is…
- Swirly Whirly Blue Thing: This pint pint features Thing Two. End of description.
- Hat’s Off Sundae Swirl: The final dark blue pint shows the Cat in the Hat pulling a hat down over his eyes.
But what are these ice creams going to actually taste like?
Unfortunately we don’t know yet. All we have to go off of are the pint renders. Van Leeuwen has a pretty good track record, though, so we have high hopes, as do the fans. Folks seem to be pretty excited about this. Though one commenter is disappointed that the brands didn’t opt for a Green Eggs and Ham flavor. “They could [have] done like [an] egg custard flavor with bacon swirling around it,” they wrote, and then clarified that it didn’t have to be actual meat. It could be vegan meat. Van Leeuwen did once make Hidden Valley Ranch ice cream, so I wouldn’t put it past them to make that eggy, meaty ice cream a reality.
Are these the first Dr. Seuss ice creams?
They are not! Van Leeuwen and Dr. Seuss teamed to create Grinchman Peppermint with Chocolate Hearts just this past holiday season. Apparently it was successful enough to warrant not one, not two, but three follow up flavors.
Where can you buy the new Van Leeuwen x Dr. Seuss ice creams?
These are a store exclusive release. You’ll only find them at Kroger and Kroger-owned stores. Kroger doesn’t often get splashy store exclusives. Good for Kroger.
