If you hadn’t heard, America is having a big birthday this year. To celebrate, Monster Energy is doing something they rarely if ever do: releasing a limited-time-only flavor. Yes, while other energy drink brands release limited-edition flavors to the point of exhaustion, Monster has shied away from the concept entirely (until now). It’s commendable! I appreciate the idea that Monster only wants to release drinks they believe are good enough to sell consistently year-round, rain or shine. That said, Monster is straying from that consistent plan in 2026 for a pretty obvious reason.

When and where can I get my hands on this new Monster Ultra flavor?

In honor of the semiquincentennial celebrations taking place this July, Monster Ultra Red White & Blue Razz will hit shelves for a limited time this summer anywhere Monster Energy is sold. Just to be clear, this is a brand-new rocket pop-inspired blue raspberry flavor—not the red, white, and blue Monster Ultra flavors mixed together, a la Mountain DEW-S-A.

While it’ll hit wide retail this summer, you can find it at Casey’s stores and anywhere Monster Energy is sold on military property starting right now. Casey’s was nice enough to send over a few early cans so I could spread the good word here on Sporked; let’s crack one open and see if this rocket pop energy drink hits like fireworks.

New Monster Ultra!

Monster Ultra Red White & Blue Razz Energy

Pros: Y’all, I am a huge rocket pop fan. I own a licensed Popsicle Firecracker chain that I wear regularly. While other brands tackled the concept years ago, Monster knew there was a culturally perfect moment worth waiting for—and this drink was absolutely worth the wait. This sweet, tart, popsicle-in-a-can knocks the idea out of the park. While all Monster Ultra flavors have a level of “how does this have no sugar?” to them, this drink is a true technical achievement in sweetness simulacrum science. I’ve tried every Monster Ultra flavor available on shelves; this is the best. (Sorry, Ultra Black.)

Cons: It’s an…awkward time to release something so loudly American. Every time I’ve covered this drink on social media, I’ve gotten plenty of comments asking whether such a patriotic design is a good idea at this particular moment in history. If the drink performs well, I truly wouldn’t be surprised to see the flavor return with a slightly less “rah-rah” name and color scheme.
