Milanos aren’t the only classy cookie getting a new flavor released in 2026; Pepperidge Farm just announced three new flavored Chessmen cookies hitting shelves now. (I’m looking forward to finding out which one makes the best banana pudding topping.)

I’m not entirely convinced these are the first flavored Chessmen cookies. Read on for my conspiracy theory regarding whether Pepperidge Farms is pulling the cookie-naming wool over our eyes. Plus, all the details on these new flavors and where you can find them.

What are the three new Chessmen flavors?

While the new Milano flavors have gone the fruity route, these new Chessmen are leaning toward rich, indulgent, borderline savory flavors. Very soon, we’ll find Brown Butter Pecan, Salted Caramel, and Cinnamon Sugar Chessmen cookies on shelves. All three of these sound absolutely divine; stay tuned for my review coming as soon as samples arrive on my doorstep.

When and where can I start shoving these cookies into my face?

Per Pepperidge Farms, all three of these new Chessmen flavors will hit shelves this month. The Salted Caramel and Cinnamon Sugar Chessmen cookies will be available wherever large varieties of P.F. cookies are sold. Meanwhile, the Brown Butter Pecan Chessmen cookies will be exclusive to Walmart stores nationwide. Walmart doesn’t get too many exclusives, but they’re always big swings: Mountain Dew, Pop-Tarts, and now Pepperidge Farm’s cookies.

And what’s this cookie conspiracy all about?

The subject line of the email that delivered this news opened with three simple words: “First Flavored Chessmen.” Well, I’m not buying it. Last month, I had the privilege of ranking every Pepperidge Farm holiday cookie—including a rectangular shortbread cookie simply titled “Holiday Nog.” While the word Chessmen doesn’t appear anywhere on the packaging, it looks and tastes mighty similar to the Chessmen cookie concept we know and love. Back in 2023, Pepperidge Farm itself even referred to the Holiday Nog cookie as “a holiday twist” on the classic Chessmen cookie. Pepperidge Farm can claim what they want about the groundbreaking nature of these three flavored variants; Sporked readers know the truth.
