Trader Joe’s Viral Micro Totes Are Coming Back

Now, I don’t know about you, but I love completely impractical, novelty-sized bags. Yep, I said it! I’m just a sucker for anything ridiculously small, and while I know that you can’t really use them for anything (more on that later), you can’t deny that teeny tiny little bags are very cute. And sometimes, cute is what you need.

Clearly, Trader Joe’s and I are on the same page. It was recently revealed that the store is due to re-release its viral micro totes, which are apparently ready to drop this spring. Here’s everything we know about this kitschy little product.

It’s All About the Bag

Rumblings of the return of the Trader Joe’s mini totes first started to appear online towards the end of January, with popular Instagram fan account @traderjoesobsesed posting about them. The account also stated that they’d be appearing in pastel colors, which indicates an Easter vibe, and which would be perfect for popping your Trader Joe’s egg-shaped chocolate inside.

The account’s post has since been corroborated by the Reno Gazette Journal, which has apparently spoken to employees at TJ’s, who have revealed that the micro totes have shown up on the store’s interior system. As with their last release in late 2025, the totes (which measure 4.5 by 3.5 inches) will have a zipper and come with a reusable bag inside, which is perfect for stashing your groceries in—once you’ve pulled it out, of course. See? They’re not just for looking at. These things have a purpose.

Clearly, the Trader Joe’s micro tote isn’t equipped for lugging around all your Trader Joe’s frozen meals or canned goods (although you might be able to get a pack of its canned sardines or smoked trout in there, if you really squeeze ‘em in). That said, this fun little item, which will only set you back a few bucks, has more uses than you might give it credit for. Yes, it’s good for carrying around your reusable shopping bag, but it can also be a handy holder for your keys, your credit cards, or your ID. You can pop a couple of handfuls of snacks in there to fuel you during your TJ’s shopping trip. Hey, you can even give it to your kids to teach them all about the wonders of retail from an early age. The possibilities aren’t quite endless, but they’re definitely there.

Regardless of how usable this thing actually is, people are definitely excited about the return of the Trader Joe’s mini tote (and to be honest, it needed the good publicity; it recently discontinued a fan-favorite item that people weren’t happy about). Keep an eye on your local store in the coming few weeks—there’s no exact date yet for when they’ll appear, but we don’t think it’ll be long now.
