We don’t trust anybody who doesn’t like an Aldi dupe. Sorry, but on sheer fun factor alone, they’re worth a second look. Yes, we know that they may not always taste as good as the name-brand products we all know and love, but there’s a certain thrill in seeing just how close the German retailer can get to an existing product before it feels way too alike. Plus, a lot of the time, these dupes do taste as good – you only have to look at its private-label Häagen-Dazs version or its Olive Garden salad dressing dupe for evidence of this.

Its Red Bull dupe is another fine example of this fact – and, as you’d expect from any Aldi product, it’s way cheaper than the fancier version. Introducing Red Thunder.

Red Thunder: Energy For Less

Red Thunder has been around for a good couple of years now, but a recent post from @thedealsguy brought it back to our attention – and reminded us just how worth it this drink is. These energy drinks look remarkably similar to Red Bull, with the same coloring (albeit with a different design), and the same shade to the drink itself. The cans also have that slim, tall shape. Squint, and you may not even be able to tell the difference. (Okay, you will be able to.)

What’s especially eye-catching, though, is the price. As @thedealsguy shows, a four-pack of Red Thunder can be basically a third of the cost of a pack of Red Bull. You can grab a box of the former for $3.65, which is almost the price you’d pay for a single can of Red Bull in Aldi stores.

And What About The Taste?

Well – it’s good. Not just good, actually. They’re great, so sayeth Redditors. Red Thunder, which comes in regular and sugar-free varieties (as well as in a bunch of other flavors, which appear a little more sporadically), has been dubbed as nearly identical to Red Bull, albeit with a slightly sweeter note to it. To be totally honest, unless you’re a serious Red Bull aficionado, you’d find it tricky to tell the difference between the two. And for that price… It’s hard to say no, guys.

This isn’t the only energy drink dupe that Aldi sells, either. It also stocks a Bloom dupe named Vivee, which has the same vibe as the former drink (prebiotic, low-calorie, zero-sugar, etc), but at a much lower price. Grab some cans of both, a box of Aldi animal crackers (which may well be a Happy Meal cookie dupe), and go to town.
