You wouldn’t think of Jolly Rancher lending itself to tea, but the scientists at The Ryl Co. are true trailblazers. The upstart tea brand sent over samples of their new Green Apple and Blue Raspberry Jolly Rancher canned teas; let’s find out whether hard candy is the new sugar cube.

Green Apple Jolly Rancher Tea by The Ryl Co. Review

New Jolly Rancher Tea!

Pros: This smells exactly like a green apple Jolly Rancher, but the zero-sugar base keeps this from feeling like straight syrup in your mouth. This Jolly Rancher tea is uniquely sour and tart compared to their other offerings (including the Blue Raspberry variant we’re about to cover).

Cons: I’m really not sure who this is for. Was the Jolly Rancher audience crying out for a less-caffeinated drinkable version of their favorite hard candy? I can assure you the tea superfans weren’t asking for this, based on my girlfriend’s deep frown upon seeing these samples hit our doorstep.

Blue Raspberry Jolly Rancher Tea by The Ryl Co. Review

New Jolly Rancher Tea!

Pros: The Ryl Co. deserves credit for accurately tackling the aroma on all three of these drinks; I genuinely think I could call out these as Jolly Rancher specifically in a blind smell test.

This flavor could easily have been too much, but Ryl kept the blue raspberry decidedly unextreme… to a fault.

Cons: This blue raspberry candy tea isn’t particularly blue raspberry-ful or candy-esque. While I’m not sure I want to drink tea steeped with Jolly Ranchers until fully dissolved, this muted halfway attempt wasn’t terribly fulfilling either.

Cherry Jolly Rancher Tea by The Ryl Co. Review

New Jolly Rancher Tea!

As mentioned, The Ryl Co. sent over samples of their Green Apple and Blue Raspberry Jolly Rancher teas… which is why I was so surprised to find this Cherry Jolly Rancher tea on shelves within a few days of my sample delivery! This particular flavor is exclusive to Target; here’s a little bonus coverage.

Pros: Awkwardly, this is my favorite of the Jolly Rancher tea trio by far. Despite being made with exclusively natural flavors, this tastes like authentically candy-cherry in all the best ways. If you scrub the Jolly Rancher of it all out of your kind, cherry is the flavor that feels the most plausible as a tea flavoring anyway; of course, this is the top pick.

Cons: I’m no marketing expert, but it feels counterproductive to release the best flavor exclusively to one retailer.
