Did you know that National Donut Day is coming up? No? Honestly, we’re not surprised – because there’s a national food holiday for everything these days. And we mean everything. There’s one like every day. And in fact, National Donut Day, which falls on June 5 every year, is the same as National Gingerbread Day, National Veggie Burger Day, and National Sausage Roll Day.

Now, whether you actually celebrate any of these days (and I’m fairly sure that most of us don’t) is another question. But you know who does? Chains like 7-Eleven – and it’s not missing the chance to run what is admittedly quite a good offer next Friday. Let’s check it out.

On Friday, June 5, 7-Eleven will be marking National Donut Day by offering discounts on several of its donuts. For one day only, you can grab its classic glazed donuts for just 50 cents each, or you can get yourself a 7-Select Mini Donut pack for $1 at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripe stores. Considering that works out to about 17 cents per (mini) donut, that’s actually not that bad of a deal at all.If you’re in the market for ‘em, obviously. 

7-Eleven’s offer is, according to the chain itself, a no-frills affair – and not that we’re in the habit of comparing (although we definitely are), but it feels nice and direct, especially compared to something like Chipotle’s Summer of Extras event. “Sometimes the best celebrations are the simplest ones, like a fresh donut and a great deal,” said 7-Eleven’s senior vice president, fresh foods and beverages, Brandon Brown, in a press release. “National Donut Day gives customers a fun reason to treat themselves, and these offers make every coffee run, snack stop or midday break a little sweeter.”

Oh, there’s always a catch. Luckily, this one isn’t that much of a hindrance: You just have to be a 7Rewards or Speedy Rewards member to avail of this discounted donut offer.
