Starbucks Just Announced An Extra Spooky Halloween Drink

Here at Sporked the defining qualities of the seasons and holidays aren’t the weather patterns, decorations in homes and businesses, or seasonal TV shows and movies. For us, the seasons are, of course, defined by the food we eat. And, whether or not that is the mandatory pumpkin spice in fall or peppermint in winter, what we eat and how it looks puts us right in the mood for all of the fun celebrations that will be partaking in throughout the seasons.

Starbucks has always been the champion of seasonal beverages. I mean, they literally invented the Pumpkin Spice Latte over two decades ago all on their own. And for as exciting as pumpkin spice season is at Starbucks, it does feel like they’ve always been a bit lacking in the Halloween department rather than just general fall celebration flavors and beverages. They’re not gonna let that stand this year though. Just yesterday, they officially announced that a certain feline Frappuccino that we had only heard whispers and rumors of will officially be coming to the menu for Halloween.

The Black Cat Frappuccino

While there’s not many sweet flavors actually dedicated too Halloween beyond generalized candies and desserts, we still think Starbucks did a good job in their recipe development in making a flavor that would not only look perfect for this Frappuccino, but taste on theme as well. The Black Cat Frappuccino base is a chocolate cake-flavored crème Frappuccino. We can only hope that it will taste like a real cake pieces were mixed into the shake itself rather than a cake flavored syrup, but alas, we will have to wait to find out.

The Frappuccino is topped with the usual whipped cream, too. But instead of stopping there, Starbucks drove home the black cat imagery with a cat ear-shaped chocolate decoration to sit on top of the whipped cream. Halloween is the perfect time to indulge in a sweet treat that is not only spooky and thematically on point, but chocolate-y and sweet too.

But Wait, There’s More 

That’s right folks, not only is Starbucks releasing the Black Cat Frappuccino for us to sip on during the Halloween festivities, but they had to introduce some food to match the occasion as well. They went with a cookie made from black cocoa cookie dough with caramel fudge pieces and caramelized white chocolate mixed throughout for this launch. The Venti Black Night Cookie is extra large and plenty enough to satisfy your Halloween sweet tooth. Plus, with the way the colors of the cookie ingredients translate, it looks black, orange, and very festive. Both Halloween items will hit stores October 22, right on time for the celebrations.
