Haunted Ranch? Hidden Valley Has You Covered

Spooky season may not be TOTALLY in full swing, but we’re on the precipice of it all kicking off – and food companies have been ready for months (and I mean months: Pillsbury’s Halloween cookies dropped at the end of June). You know what we haven’t seen much of yet, though? Spooky ranch. And I cannot live without my spooky ranch. I need my salads to feel infinitely more ghostly and possessed. If I can’t dip my wings into a ranch dressing that feels like it’ll say “boo!” at any moment, the season isn’t complete.

Thankfully, Hidden Valley hasn’t let us down. We now have Spooky Ranch. And it’s available now. 

Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch

This week, Hidden Valley announced its Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch Condiment and Dressing, its first-ever seasonal twist. Hidden Valley hasn’t just mixed up the bottle here (although that comes with an appropriately Halloween-y label, and with some black bats adorning the bottle cap; it’s glow-in-the-dark, too) – the ranch itself has been spookified. Spooky Ranch has a black hue, which comes from fruit juice and cocoa. 

Now, all of this should be received as it’s intended to be received – ie., with a healthy dose of the seasonal spirit. “This twist on the flavor you love is the perfect way to bring some frightful fun to your favorite costume parties and fall festivities this Halloween season,” says Hidden Valley Ranch’s vice president of marketing, Stacy Stokes, in its press release. And it is fun. Additionally, while some foods’ flavors tend to morph bizarrely when a product we know and love looks different, despite the ingredients being the same, I have a strange sense that this new color won’t impede ranch’s garlicky, creamy notes that much. I could be wrong about that, but hey. Maybe don’t put it on your vibrant green salad, though; save it to serve as a dip at your Halloween party. Decorate it with some bacon bits for a pop of blood red. So many options!

Walmart Only

Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch Condiment and Dressing is a Walmart exclusive, and it’s available for a suggested retail price of $3.97. Get it while stocks last, before it’s sent to the crypt from whence it came. The dressing has arrived during a typically busy year for the ranch brand, which released its new Chicken Dippers in May. We didn’t love those, incidentally, but hey — different strokes for different folks, we guess.
