Inside every ice cream company, there are two beasts: one that desires to keep things classic, and one that desires to create every new flavor combination under the sun. While they can often listen to both, this year, we’ve seen various brands lean in one or the other direction: Blue Bell, for example, has largely stuck to bringing back fan-favorite vintage flavors this year, while Jeni’s has gone down the more newfangled route (well, if its Holiday Collection is anything to go by, anyway).

But what about Blue Bunny? We last checked in with this old-school brand when it was releasing a board game earlier in the year – but what about its flavors? Well, turns out it’s embracing the retro vibes, too.
Blue Bunny New Flavors
This week, @candyhunting revealed that Blue Bunny would be releasing a duo of new flavors in the near future. Exactly when they’ll land is another matter – as @candyhunting notes, Blue Bunny tends to drop its new flavors in December, before a wider rollout in late winter/early Spring, but there’s no set date at this point.
With that in mind, you may have to wait a few months to try these out, if indeed you’re planning on trying them at all – but if you are, expect old-school vibes. Blue Bunny is dropping a new Frosted Cookies flavor (a collab with Mother’s), and a new Fudge & Cookies flavor (a collab with Keebler). The former is a sugar cookie ice cream with pink frosting swirls, sugar cookie pieces, and pink candy pieces in the shape of Mother’s Circus Animals. The latter, meanwhile, is a cookie ice cream with fudge swirls, shortbread fudge cookie pieces, and Ernie the Elf and Keebler’s Hallow Tree-shaped fudge-filled pieces.
And…Is This Real Ice Cream?
By the looks of things, yes, it is! Blue Bunny tends to sell frozen dairy desserts, which has a lower milkfat content than classic ice cream, and which is therefore often cheaper (and with less of a creamy, rich flavor). It looks like these two flavors will be real, proper ice cream, though – although we don’t hang our hats on that fact until they’re actually in stores.
That has some people in @candyhunting’s comment section pretty excited, though, and we agree: It’s nice to see an older brand check back in with its icy, creamy roots. That said, these new flavors do sound almost tooth-achingly sweet; the Frosted Cookies one sounds especially sugary, and while I know that’s the point, it could be a case of less is more. We’ll withhold judgment until the reviews roll in, though.
