We’ve talked a lot this year about how Burger King is getting better – and honestly, it really is putting in the work. From its new Whopper to its new chicken nuggets (which we weren’t blown away by, but we appreciated the effort), to its attempts at improving customer experience, it really has been putting in the hard yards. It’s been doing that with its limited-edition releases, too, and some of them have absolutely blown us away this year.

Maybe the best of them all was its Game Day Pretzel Burger: When our own Griffin Parker tried it, he gave it an almost-perfect score, highlighting its bun, made by SuperPretzel, as being nothing short of excellent. And now? You can get that very bun in supermarkets. Today’s a good day.

SuperPretzel Bavarian Soft Pretzel Buns

As reported by Allrecipes, SuperPretzel has just released its Bavarian Soft Pretzel Buns – the bun used to make the Game Day Pretzel Burger – in stores around the country. These frozen pretzel buns come four to a box, and once thawed and warmed slightly, they’re good to go. They’ll be available at Kroger starting November 1, and they’ll eventually make their way to other stores, too.

Given how hit-and-miss pretzel buns can be (I personally find they can become too hard very quickly, with that delicious chew turning into something akin to trying to bite through cardboard), the appearance of a tried-and-tested option that’s wowed countless fast food fans across the US is very welcome. We think these present the perfect opportunity to emulate the Game Day Pretzel Burger at home: Grab a beef patty, some cheese, some bacon, nacho cheese sauce, pickles, and some fried onions, and go to town.

Good Things Don’t Come For Free

The only thing to bear in mind here is the price: SuperPretzel Bavarian Soft Pretzel Buns cost $6 per box, which works out to $1.50 per bun. That’s significantly more expensive than similar products you’d find at places like Walmart or Costco; the former sells a six-count of Marketside Bavarian Style Pretzel Hamburger Buns for just shy of $5, while the latter sells eight Pretzel Bagels for the same price. Costco’s version is very good, too — but you’ve got options here, people! And considering how rapturous the response was to SuperPretzel’s buns, we think that most people wouldn’t mind paying a dollar extra for something that’s clearly very good quality. Don’t sleep on these.
