Burger King’s New SuperPretzel Burger Is A Hail Mary For The Win

Burger King is getting into the game-day spirit with a new Game Day Menu, featuring an exciting new burger and a side we’ll get to later. This Game Day Pretzel Burger features not just a pretzel bun, but a SuperPretzel brand pretzel bun. Burger King was nice enough to send over a gift card so we could sample the whole Game Day Menu; let’s find out whether we should have stretched first.

Burger King’s Game Day Pretzel Burger Review

New Burger King Burger!

Pros: Folks, I have eaten a Whopper straight from the corporate chefs at Burger King Headquarters’ Innovation Kitchen… and this is now the best burger I’ve ever had from Burger King. The combination of savory nacho cheese sauce and American cheese speaks to my personal dairy needs, while the crispy onions add a great layer of crunch under the top half of this soft SuperPretzel bun. Oh lord, this bun. His Highness needs to get this pretzel bun on the menu permanently ASAP. Most limited-time fast food burgers aren’t worth your time, but this absolutely is.

Cons: I don’t ascribe to the belief that bacon always makes a burger better, but this is easily the best bacon’d burger I’ve ever had from Burger King.

Burger King’s Chicken Fries with Nacho Cheese Sauce Review

New Burger King Combo!

In addition to the Hail Mary of a burger on this new menu, Burger King is also advertising “Game Day Chicken Fries,” which come with a side of Nacho Cheese for dipping. Against my personal wishes, I held off on completely obliterating my Game Day Pretzel Burger to save room for this newly-advertised combination of the existing Chicken Fries and Nacho Cheese Sauce. Was it worth it?

Pros: …Sure? Chicken and cheese is never a bad combination, but this had a very tough act to follow. Burger King‘s Nacho Cheese Sauce is genuinely tangy–still in the “Mild Queso” space, but brighter in flavor than I would have assumed from a major fast food chain.

Cons: I abandoned the advertised conceit and dipped the rest of my Game Day Pretzel Burger in the Nacho Cheese Sauce that came with the fries.
