Everything In Krispy Kreme’s New Holiday Collection

Krispy Kreme released four new collections in October. Four. And each of them featured new doughnuts. Now, considering that most fast food chains will maybe drop a new pair or trio of menu items every few months, that’s very, very speedy – especially for a brand with such a massive, lumbering size. We don’t know what they’re drinking over at Krispy Kreme HQ, but I’m clearly going to start needing some to get through my day and create my own baked goods empire.

Of all the franchises out there, then, you might forgive Krispy Kreme for taking a break. Nope. Shortly after giving away free doughnuts on Election Day, it’s back with another new collection. Happy holidays, folks.

Krispy Kreme Holiday Seasonal Collection

This week, Krispy Kreme has launched its Holiday Seasonal Collection, which features three new doughnuts and one returning drink. First, to the doughnuts! They are:

• Hot Cocoa Doughnut: An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in chocolate icing, which is then crowned with a dollop of frosting made with Ghirardelli Hot Cocoa, marshmallow bites, and a further sprinkle of Ghirardelli cocoa to finish things off.
• Sugar Cookie Doughnut: Once again, we begin with an Original Glazed doughnut, which Krispy Kreme then dips in vanilla-flavored icing and finishes with a holiday sugar cookie topping.
• Caramel Toffee Cheesecake Doughnut: An unglazed shell doughnut piped with cheesecake Kreme, dunked in caramel icing, and adorned with a toffee-flavored crunch and caramel drizzle. 

What About The Drink?

Fans of Krispy Kreme’s Sugar Cookie Latte will be very pleased, because it’s coming back for another spin. This seasonal drink was first released a few years ago, and quickly won fans for the genuine sugar cookie flavor Krispy Kreme managed to get into it. It’s sweet, sure, but it’s also got a butteriness to it that gives it a more complex profile – and the sprinkles on top are a cute little touch. 

And What Do We Think About This All?

We – well, I – think this all sounds perfectly lovely. Krispy Kreme hasn’t tried to do anything outlandish this year with its holiday doughnuts; instead, it’s kept things down-the-line festive and is trading in flavors pretty much everyone will enjoy. Its collaboration with Ghirardelli is also a smart move: It gives the Hot Cocoa doughnut just a touch more class. For my money, that doughnut’s the one that excites me the most (but then I personally find toffee and caramel a little too insistent on doughnuts for some reason – others will disagree, I’m sure!).
