Krispy Kreme’s Halloween Collaboration Just Got A New Flavor

Say what you want about Krispy Kreme, but the doughnut chain knows how to make the most of a collaboration. We’re seeing that in real time as we speak (or type, or read, depending on what side of the screen you’re on). Earlier this month, Krispy Kreme announced its Looney Tunes collaboration for Halloween, bringing some of the cartoon franchise’s most beloved characters to its customers in doughy, glazed form. Most restaurants would stop there – but it quickly followed its four new options with its Lab Dozen, featuring even more new doughnuts.

Surely that’s it, right? No. No, it’s not. We’re getting another new doughnut, once again in honor of a Looney Tunes major player, and it’s only available for three days. 

Taz Chocolate Original Glazed Dozen

Starting today, October 20, Krispy Kreme is releasing its new Taz Chocolate Original Glazed Dozen, which will be available through October 22. Like its Lab Dozen, the Taz Chocolate Original Glazed Dozen contains a combination of two doughnuts, with nine Chocolate Original Glazed Doughnuts and three all-new Taz Chocolate Tornado Doughnuts. The latter starts with a Chocolate Original Glazed base, and then tops it with a green icing tornado swirl and dips it in chocolate cookie pieces, Halloween sprinkles, and rainbow nonpareils.

Why does Krispy Kreme keep throwing new doughnuts at us in this collaboration? Well, let’s be honest: It’s a good way to keep people engaged. Most Halloween menus arrive with a bang and then interest slightly fizzles out, and by mixing things up, Krispy Kreme very much makes the most of things. Plus, its new Taz Chocolate Tornado Doughnut is very much a riff on its formerly released Taz Doughnut: It has many of the same ingredients and features, so it’s a small lateral step for them to make it – and everyone gets the satisfaction of something new. Well, for three days, anyway.
