We Tried 7-Eleven’s New Pumpkin Spice Slurpee

The ever-innovative folks at 7-Eleven have decided to sneak one last crazy innovation into stores while all our backs were turned. Not content with just releasing Slurpee-flavored Twinkies and Drumsticks, they’ve decided to open Pandora’s box and empty it directly into the Slurpee machine itself. Yes, for the first time ever, you can head to (certain) 7-Eleven locations for a Pumpkin Spice Slurpee.

I wish I was kidding, but this is the world we live in. Alongside the standard pumpkin spice coffee lineup, 7-Eleven is offering Pumpkin Spice Slurpees in “top Slurpee drink markets,” which is flattering since I’m just 20 minutes from one of these locations. So, a few days ago, I took a nice little trip through some very boring parts of town to find an unassuming little gas station and try this festive, new Slurpee flavor.

New Slurpee Flavor!

7-Eleven Pumpkin Spice Slurpee

Per the announcement, this Slurpee contains “the flavor of pumpkin and cinnamon spice swirled together.” Initial hesitation aside, pumpkin is pretty well established in a slightly-different frozen treat category: ice cream. Did it work in a Slurpee, though? Let’s weigh the pros and cons.

Pros: The mix of pumpkin and cinnamon spice is accurate in a way that shouldn’t work nearly as well as it does. I had to stop myself from drinking the entire thing before I had a chance to get home and take notes! If this 7-Eleven location was closer, I’d be going back for more while they’re still in stock. I’m still having trouble believing it myself, but it’s true: Pumpkin Spice Slurpees are good.

Cons: I went in for a Pumpkin Spice Slurpee and walked out with a cup of melted Pumpkin Spice Slurpee juice. I don’t know if they’d just put the flavor mix into the machine or what, but this drink was in no way frozen. It was definitely cold, but it was a long way from what you want in a Slurpee. Since I’m here to review the flavor, it wasn’t a dealbreaker, but I do feel like I missed out on the true Pumpkin Spice Slurpee experience.

Where can you buy a Pumpkin Spice Slurpee?

  • 3200 HACKBERRY RD, Irving, Texas
  • 5530 VALLEY BLVD, Los Angeles, California
  • 2030 A WEST 8TH STREET, Los Angeles, California
  • 82 GREENWICH ST, New York, New York
  • 90 N XENIA DR, Enon, Ohio

These are only available while supplies last, so if you’re truly dedicated to trying this… thing, you’ll want to start your road trip ASAP. If you can’t validate interstate travel for a Slurpee, I have a feeling we’ll see this flavor available nationwide next year. (I’d say don’t quote me on that, but this is getting published so… Quote me on that. Just a hunch, though.)
