Word on the street (and by street, I mean @snackwire) is that there’s a new spicy version of Chick-fil-A’s sauce on the way! While nothing’s been confirmed by CFA yet, we’re left with a few crumbs to parse through. Let’s get into all that we know.

Like I said, there’s been no official confirmation from Chick-fil-A proper but that hasn’t stopped some Chick-fil-A locations from already posting about the new sauce. And I don’t blame them! Get any social media buzz tied to your location that you can. It’s a dog eat dog world out there. Sadly that does mean that we have no official nationwide release date announced yet, but hopefully we’ll start to see that come soon.
Do Chick-fil-A Customers Even Like Spice?
I mean, I know there’s a spicy sandwich at Chick-fil-A but in my mind, the average customer isn’t really going there for spice. I’d much more attribute that to Taco Bell or Wendy’s with their spicy nuggets. I don’t see the usual CFA fan really rearing to get their hands on spice. Maybe I’m wrong. I’m certainly welcomed to be proven wrong if the sauce comes out and riots start to break out when they run out of the first batch.
Maybe I have to eat my words already. The comment section on Snack Wire’s post is full of people clamoring for the new spicy sauce and more. There are also calls for Chick-fil-A to give us spicy nuggets, to bring back their spicy tenders, and of course we know how popular their spicy chicken sandwich is considering it’s gone as far as gotten a dupe at Aldi.
Capitalizing On Fan Action
You have to wonder, is Chick-fil-A doing this because they saw that others were already doing it on their own? It doesn’t take a whole lot to add a little dash of hot sauce into your own packet of CFA sauce. The question then becomes, are we happy that Chick-fil-A took some work off of our plate or are we mad that they’re taking ownership of something that we were all doing by ourselves? After all, the worst thing a brand can do is insert themselves into a movement and pretend they’re hip with it.
Nonetheless, I guess it is a net positive that we can now get spicy Chick-fil-A sauce with our chicken. Though I’m still not certain that the overlap between CFA customers and heat enthusiasts is too large. I guess only time will tell how successful the new product launch will be. Until then, we’ll be crafting up our own spicy sauce in our cars.
