Alani Nu is getting into the holiday mood, but its latest seasonal energy drink has some fans feeling less than excited. Winter Wonderland flavor is back on shelves for another winter, except there’s a pretty big change this time around. Alani Nu hasn’t officially announced it yet, but instead of the cranberry flavor fans have come to love, the new version is described as a Sugar Cookie flavor.

The new flavor has already started popping up in stores ahead of its expected official release, giving curious shoppers an early chance to try it. Some fans are excited about the change, but many more are wondering why Alani Nu would mess with a seasonal drink they genuinely loved.

Fans Are Already Missing The Cranberry Flavor

Fans’ reaction to the new Winter Wonderland has been really interesting because it shows just how differently people feel about the switch.

In a Reddit thread about the change, one fan expressed disappointment over losing the older version, saying, “I know I’m so sad. I loved the OG winter wonderland and last year’s too…. I’m not as excited about a sugar cookie one.”

Another fan was more direct about what they wanted from the seasonal drink, saying “I’m not looking forward to it. I don’t think they do vanilla favors well. Vanilla voodoo was fake tasting and subpar and the pumpkin cream thing from last year still haunts my nightmares. I really liked the idea of a holiday thing being cranberry or maybe more of a ginger ale direction.”

That said, the discussion isn’t entirely negative. Some people who disliked the older cranberry versions are actually looking forward to trying the new release. One Reddit user shared their excitement in the same thread, writing, “The old winter wonderland flavor has always been meh to me so l’m actually really excited for the sugar cookie flavor!.”

Clearly, the flavor change could win over a different group of drinkers. The trouble is that people who enjoyed the cranberry version now have a reason to be disappointed. Some fans have also expressed frustration with the fact that Alani Nu keeps using the name “Winter Wonderland” for different flavors, saying it’s confusing, to say the least.

Does the New Winter Wonderland Taste Like Voodoo Vanilla?

The sugar cookie description isn’t the only thing getting people talking. Early taste tests have also led to comparisons with the Alani Nu Voodoo Vanilla.

In one Instagram taste-test video, the new Winter Wonderland is compared to Voodoo Vanilla. Another taste test shared on Instagram describes the flavor as reminiscent of vanilla frosting.

Regardless of how it tastes, the comments section of both Instagram posts are filled with people talking about how much they loved the Spiced Cranberry flavor and are disappointed to see it replaced.

Will Alani Nu Fans Give Sugar Cookie Winter Wonderland a Chance?

The new Winter Wonderland has certainly given Alani Nu fans something to talk about before the holiday season gets underway.

For cranberry lovers, the change is disappointing. The older version had developed somewhat of a following and some fans were looking forward to buying it again. The new flavor is also getting some love from fans, but not as much as the cranberry flavor. Alani Nu can only hope the new flavor grows on cranberry fans over time and win over the hearts of new fans.
