Aldi has faced more criticism than most other supermarkets this year from its customers due to its quality control – but just because it isn’t in a lot of people’s good graces at the moment, doesn’t mean that certain products at the store don’t shine. It’s still knocking it out of the park with some new and returning releases, like its new cookies & cream spread, which people are saying they can’t get enough of.

Over in its olive section, there’s another seasonal item that Aldi customers adore, so much so that they want the supermarket to make them permanent. We live in hope. Here’s what everyone’s falling over each other to get.
Aldi Specially Selected Castelvetrano Olives
Aldi’s seasonally available Specially Selected Castelvetrano Olives have just reappeared at its stores, and if you like your olives to be on the milder, more buttery side, these are the ones for you. An Italian variety, Castelvetrano olives are grown and processed in Sicily (and named after the town they hail from). If you’ve ever had Nocellara del Belice olives, these are the same thing, just under a different name. Bright green, plump, and smooth, with a light olive flavor, they’re an excellent choice for people who find regular green olives to be a little acidic or sharp. Incidentally, I used to work in a pizza restaurant that served these as a snack, and I cannot tell you the amount I got through in those years while I waited for customers to come in. They’re delicious.
And they’re back at Aldi! A six-ounce jar of its Specially Selected Castelvetrano Olives costs $3.99 a pop. They’re not the cheapest choice (although they’re way less expensive at Aldi than in other places), but they’re a good one. A very good one.
Oh, Yeah?
Yeah. Customers love these olives. “I already ate the whole jar within 2 days,” said a Reddit post discussing them, while another person said, “They didn’t make it a day with me and my oldest. One of my favorite olives right now!” Aldi shoppers have also made it clear that they’d love the store to make this a permanent fixture of its product line. Personally, I think that’s pretty doubtful – it probably could if it wanted to, but returning drops like these keep people talking. Stock up while you can, though, and pop them in your next martini. I promise it’ll be worth it.
