The worst thing a company can do is try to relate to the people. Like no, Target, you’re not “looking chopped” this morning, you’re a Fortune 500 company. Aldi, for as much as I love them, has encroached on this territory and I fear for them. They’ve changed the name of one of their beloved products to include a colloquial term its customers have been using, so we’ll have to see how it plays out.

Aldi’s Red Bag Chicken is now officially … Red Bag Chicken
Aldi’s Kirkwood chicken patties and chunks, which are known for being dupes for Chick-Fil-A patties and nugs, were originally called “Red Bag Chicken” by customers, but now that’s the official name. It’s part of a larger overhaul to the look of the packaging. Is Big Aldi watching us? Are they trying too hard to relate to the people? Perhaps it’s just a marketing strategy to help customers that are sent their way by friends to find the right product.
Is Red Bag Chicken worth the hype?
Aldi shoppers don’t all agree. One Redditor gave the Kirkwood patties a 3/5, explaining that they’re juicy and crunchy but “not orgasmic or anything,” although they caught flack from commenters for not consuming them in sandwich format, which seems to be the key to the Chick-Fil-A comparison. Aldi even sells a Chick-Fil-A sauce dupe so you can get as close as possible.
As Chick-Fil-A chicken dupes go, the Sporked team is partial to Just Bare chicken nuggets, which you can find at most grocery stores, including Target and Costco. We also found dupes for Chick-Fil-A’s chicken biscuit and waffle fries—you never have to go to Chick-Fil-A again!
