Marg season is here. Undeniably, irrefutably here. The drinks are in full flow, and food and drinks companies are battling – battling, we say! – for your attention. By the end of the summer, you’re likely going to be swatting these deals away like flies buzzing around your meal. For now, though, we’re going all-in on the offers, because they’re looking pretty good.

Applebee’s is the latest to drop one, and we’re very pleased. Drinks for $1? Yes, please.
The Return Of The Dollarita
Applebee’s has just announced that it’s bringing back its Dollarita – and hear the angels sing! Its Dollarita is a $1 marg, made with tequila, triple sec, and lime (so not just a non-alcoholic imitation, the real deal), and it’s a bit of a fan fave at the restaurant. So much so, that they’re remounting it for another spin.
This time, it’s all in honor of the 250th birthday of the US of A. According to its press release, the Dollarita will be available for the entire month of July (including July 4, obviously, so get your toasts ready) at participating locations. It’s dine-in only, and you have to be 21 or over to enjoy it, which is probably no surprise whatsoever. Tax and gratuity are excluded from the offer, just FYI. This is Applebee’s biggest move since it did a big ol’ refresh of its menu back in April, and it’s a nice one.
The Summer Of Reasonable Margs
If recent news is anything to go by, it’s gonna be a bit of a race to the bottom when it comes to margaritas this month. Last week, tequila brand Cuervo announced that it would be, quite literally, PAYING for your margaritas (well, one of them, at least), as part of its Summer Fridays campaign. All you have to do is submit a receipt of a Cuervo-based margarita you bought to its website, and you can get one on the house.
It remains to be seen how other drink companies and fast-food chains will respond to these offers — if they do at all — but Applebee’s and Cuervo have set the standard. What’s next? People paying us to drink them (hint, hint)? Probably not, but we can dream, right?
