One of the most popular summertime flavors goes by many names. Depending on your energy drink brand of choice, you could be drinking something called Ice Pop, Rocket Blast, ‘Merica Pop, Bombsicle, etc. These flavors are all inspired by two popsicles that are frequently confused for each other: Bomb Pop (cherry, lime, and blue raspberry) and Popsicle‘s Firecracker (cherry, lemon, and blue raspberry). I’ll spare you the legal history between the two entities; let’s just say they are completely distinct concepts with slightly different flavor profiles.

RYSE Fuel isn’t the biggest name in energy, but they’ve done something groundbreaking here. For the first time, an energy drink company has partnered with Popsicle to create an official energy drink inspired by the iconic Firecracker. I got my hands on a can; let’s find out if Firecracker Popsicle RYSE Fuel is worth setting off fireworks for.

New RYSE Fuel Energy!

Pros: Products don’t need to be formally licensed to be a great interpretation; that said, this definitely delivers what you want from a Firecracker Popsicle energy drink. I’m such a fan of the original Firecracker Popsicle that I wear it regularly as bedazzled jewelry, so I’ve sought out tons of products looking to emulate that frozen treat. I’ve tried damn near every rocket pop-esque drink on the market, and this is the best one to date.

The ratio of all three fruit flavors truly embodies the original Popsicle treat, delivering a super-tart, citrus-forward flavor that isn’t for the weak of heart. This zero-sugar energy drink delivers an industry-standard 200 milligrams of caffeine, plus a bonus 100 milligrams of L-Theanine; the artificial sweetener blend rivals the industry’s best for having minimal aftertaste.

Cons: If you’re used to other rocket pop-flavored drinks, the strength of the lemon here may be a little strong for you. I’m all about the authentic flavor ratio, but other companies’ attempts have definitely leaned more toward cherry and blue raspberry than citrus. It isn’t an issue for me personally, but I could see it scaring off others.
