Ben & Jerry’s Is Giving Away Ice Cream Bars All Summer Long

Free ice cream is good. Free ice cream bars are, dare we say, a little better? Probably not, actually – they probably incite about the same amount of joy in the recipient. At Ben & Jerry’s, though, they’re running with the latter. Having launched two new flavors last month, the ice cream brand is now planning on spending the summer promoting its ice cream bars, which were released at the start of this year, and giving them away to the masses. Yes, really: The Great Summer Bar Drop is here, and it might be in a city near you.

The Great Summer Bar Drop

In a press release published yesterday, Ben & Jerry’s announced that, from June to August, it’s going on a road trip. The intention? To give away ice cream bars! Throughout The Great Summer Bar Drop, Ben & Jerry’s will visit five cities across five different weekends, where it’ll be doling out its treats. 

Alongside its ice cream bar handouts, Ben & Jerry’s will also be running “Golden Stick-ets” events: Find one of five golden sticks around your city, and you might win free ice cream bars for a year. All this alongside limited-time merch, games, and so-called “sweet surprises.” We can think of worse ways to occupy your time (and your kids’ time) on a weekend, to be honest.

Where Is Ben & Jerry’s Visiting? And When? 

We’ve got the details! First up is Boston, from June 20 to 22, followed by Miami from July 10 to 12. Los Angeles (July 24 to 26), Seattle (August 7 to 9), and New York City (August 21 to 23) round out the pack. To check out exact locations, head to its Great Summer Bar Drop website – and bear in mind that the Golden Stick-et events only run on specific days, so if you’re keen on a treasure hunt, then you might wanna put those in your diary.

It’s shaping up to be the summer of the ice cream bar, if you ask us. Snickers just dropped a new Crunchy Peanut Butter ice cream bar, while Tillamook and Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, and 100 Grand have all come out with their own versions. Is regular ice cream over? Of course it’s not. It’ll outlive us all. But we can enjoy the push for portability that 2026 has presented us with, and now, you can find ’em for free.
