Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet, but I guess you could say it’s in the process of springing. And we know that’s the case because a bunch of “springy” foods are heading to Aldi this month: chocolate eggs for Easter, lemony desserts, a breakfast pizza covered in pork belly crumbles, which—okay, fine—doesn’t really fit the theme but deserves a shoutout all the same because it sounds good as hell. Here are six new Aldi finds we can’t wait to try while we’re waiting for spring to arrive.

Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Breakfast Pizzas

I kinda already spoiled this one, but also I didn’t because the important thing I didn’t mention above is that Mama Cozzi’s new breakfast pizzas come on a biscuit crust and that sounds pret-ty good. There’s one with country style gravy and sausage (and lots of cheese, don’t worry) and one with pork belly, bacon, peppers, and onions. A delicious, mildly unhinged way to start the day.

Breakfast Best Sausage & Gravy Biscuit Bites

Sorry, but I’m a sucker for sausage gravy, and if these are what they look like—Pizza Rolls made out of flaky biscuit dough and stuffed with sausage gravy—then I am very on board.

Season’s Choice Sweet Potato Casserole

This isn’t a new Aldi find, but it’s one of our faves and it’s back for Easter. Aldi’s frozen sweet potato casserole is basically a delicious dessert, thanks to the layer of sweet pralines atop the buttery, creamy sweet potato mash. I thought this only came out during the winter holidays, so seeing it in spring is a treat.

Mama Cozzi’s Cheeseburger Flatbread Pizza

This refrigerated take-and-bake pizza is topped with beef patty crumbles, tomatoes, pickles, onions, a ketchup and mustard sauce (oh ,and two kinds of cheese). Crazy…or just crazy enough to work? Only one way to find out.

Millville Carrot Cake Pancake Mix

Carrot cake pancakes sound pretty spiffy on their own, but this just-add-water mix also comes with a packet of cream cheese frosting. Yes, take my money.

Specially Selected Scallops Au Gratin

Yes, these sound like they would make a really good appetizer for Easter, but you don’t HAVE to feel compelled to share with company. Who says scallops on the half shell in a parmesan cheese and white wine cream sauce and little dabs of creamy mashed potatoes can’t be dinner for one?

Gwynedd Stuart

Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks. Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction. Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home. Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
