As a Sporked writer, sometimes I feel like I walked into a child’s vivid fantasy of adulthood. After trying 18 flavors of Baskin Robbins ice cream (and getting paid by the hour to do it), today is definitely one of those days. The poetic irony is that I never really liked ice cream as a kid. Which is totally something the universe would do, if you think about it. Give the one kid with the opposite of a sweet tooth the dream job of a thousand little sugar-crazed gremlins.

But hey, try not to fret too much about my checkered past. You don’t have to trust my taste buds—I had three other certified dessert freaks trying these pints right along with me. And we were pretty much in agreement about which Baskin Robbins flavors are the best Baskin Robbins flavors.

What we looked for in the best Baskin Robbins ice cream flavors:

For the most part (with notable exceptions), Baskin Robbins pints have a really neutral and pleasant ice cream texture. It isn’t as creamy as, say, Bluebell ice cream, but it isn’t noticeably icy or gummy, either. With that in mind, the best Baskin Robbins flavors stand out the most when:

  • They bring flavor combos you can’t find anywhere else. (Like, what the heck is “Baseball Nut” and why does it taste like nothing I’ve never had before?)
  • The mix-ins actually matter! You’ll see a few Baskin Robbins pints here that shine because the mix-ins are a unique and perfect complement to the base. (Like our #1.)
  • The pints taste just as good and fresh as what you remember from the pink-and-brown ice cream parlor.

So grab a tiny pink spoon (yes, let that core memory come back) and dig into the best Baskin Robbins flavors you can buy right now!

Okay, so this pint looked like hell when we ordered it (literally, like it defrosted in hell, stayed there as hell froze over, and then melted a bit en route to our office). But we were able to look past that. It’s a really solid version of a classic flavor combo. The chocolate leans a little dark, and the ribbon of peanut butter isn’t too sweet. People who go for PB and chocolate ice creams will definitely appreciate this, even if it’s not the best Baskin Robbins flavor of all time.

Baskin Robbins Pralines ‘n Cream

Baskin Robbins Pralines ‘n Cream

Remember that thing I said about not having a sweet tooth as a kid? Well, it’s a good thing I’ve evolved over the years, or I wouldn’t be able to handle this dreamy little pint of Pralines ‘n Cream. The caramel swirled ice cream is the coziest flavor on this list, with sugar-coated pecans that are both pretty crunchy and surprisingly huge. The overall flavor kinda reminds me of sweet cream coffee creamer, but ice cream. I think this could be near-perfect if it was a touch less sweet, but even so, I really loved this. (Coming from me, that’s saying something.)

Baskin Robbins Baseball Nut

Best Baskin Robbins Flavors!

Baskin Robbins Baseball Nut

Fellow vanilla ice cream fans, definitely try this. (It actually tastes a lot like Bluebell’s vanilla ice cream, if you’re familiar.) It makes up the base of this vanilla, raspberry, and cashew ice cream, and I just have to say: Baskin Robbins has the strongest nuts in the game. There’s whole cashew nuts in here, which I’ve honestly never seen before in an ice cream but absolutely love? They aren’t super crunchy, but to quote my fellow taste-tester Justine Sterling, “I like a soft nut.” What can we say? We like what we like. (Also, the raspberry swirl is a bit fake-tasting, but otherwise, I don’t have much in terms of critique.)

Baskin Robbins World Class Chocolate

Best Baskin Robbins Flavors!

Baskin Robbins World Class Chocolate

Y’all. Someone at Baskin Robbins had the brilliant idea to mix chocolate and white chocolate mousse ice cream to make a decadent, frozen soft serve pint with an unbelievable texture. This one really breaks from the other standard ice cream flavors simply by virtue of how luxuriously creamy it is. Baskin Robbins, we’ll make you a deal: You give us a line of mousse ice cream flavors, and we’ll add this to our best chocolate ice cream ranking, stat.

Baskin Robbins Rainbow Sherbet

Best Baskin Robbins Flavors!

Baskin Robbins Rainbow Sherbet

This is childhood in the a pint, complete with pretty, summery colors and flavors that kinda blend together like a hazy dream. You can pick out the berry, orange, and pineapple, but together they’re so harmonious and nostalgic. The sherbet has a touch of iciness, but it’s mostly just smooth, spoon-pressed cream, and it’s perfect. It’s one of our favorite sherbets for a reason.

Baskin Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge

Runner Up

Baskin Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge

Don’t ask me what Jamoca is, okay? I googled it. I’m still unsure. Our best bet is that it’s shorthand for “java-mocha,” since this infamous Baskin Robbins flavor mixes coffee ice cream with a chocolate swirl and sliced almonds… but even that still feels like a stretch? I don’t know. Regardless, I’ve had an ice cream like this before, and I love (LOVE) when art surprises me. (Ice cream is art; that’s not up for debate.) The chocolate swirl has a buttery, fudgey thing going for it, and the coffee ice cream isn’t super bitter, which works for the blend. The almond slices taste really fresh and roasty—they even still have the skin on the edges. Basically, I’m obsessed with this, and if it was up to me, it would be our #1 best Baskin Robbins flavor… but I’m a team player. Most of the time.

Baskin Robbins Love Potion 31

Best of the Best

Baskin Robbins Love Potion 31

Love Potion 31 has a story behind it, and the story is that Valentine’s Day is the worst holiday ever for single people, so… go get ice cream instead? (Seriously, that’s the story.) This raspberry (though it’s more of a generic berry flavor, if you ask me) and white chocolate ice cream tells a tale as old as time: fruit and chocolate are meant to be. The heart-shaped chocolate chips have raspberry jam inside of them, giving the perfect bitter-sweet crunch. They are the real showstopper of the pint, and our only critique is that we want more of them!! But still, at least in our eyes, this is the best Baskin Robbins ice cream ever.
