For as expensive as groceries are these days, $10 leaves us a lot of wiggle room when we’re shopping. You’re able to get some solid things for the kitchen, including a whole lot of one-off meals. I thought I’d challenge myself a little by getting some staples that you can really stretch out for a while. That way you’re not literally eating your whole budget up in one go. Here are the best groceries to buy for under $10 that you’ll actually be happy eating for a while.

Kirkland Signature Rotisserie Chicken ($4.99)

This almost feels like cheating. Costco’s rotisserie chicken is $5 because they sell it at a loss. Their loss is our gain, though. There’s a lot of mileage to get out of this whole chicken. We can start by pulling some whole cuts out of the chicken and adding them to our dinner plate. Once you get sick of that, head over to our guide on what to do with the leftovers.

Cholula Original Hot Sauce ($6.99)

Hot sauce is the savior of the kitchen. Have a drab dinner? Add a little hot sauce onto your plate. Breakfast not quite perking you up? Hot sauce will do the trick. You can throw it on anything to (literally) spice things up! Cholula hot sauce is a classic for a reason. You can currently find a 12oz bottle of Cholula’s original hot sauce for $6.99 at Food4Less, though even if you don’t have one nearby, it should only be a few dollars more elsewhere.

Ayoh! Tangy Dijonayo Sando Sauc ($8.00)

In the same vein as hot sauce, an exciting sauce for all your sandwich needs is a clutch thing to have on hand. Molly Baz has given us a whole line of sandwich sauces to choose from. We tried them all and thought they were all pretty solid. For our purposes, the tangy dijonayo will go a long way. If you tend to put mustard on most of your foods, you’ll want to swap your usual out for this instead. It’s tart and tangy and creamy.

Icelandic Provisions Lowfat Plain Skyr Yogurt ($7.79)

I wanted to include something for breakfast that wasn’t just a box of cereal or a box of pancake mix. While plain yogurt certainly leaves a lot to be desired on its own, it is the perfect canvas to build a work of art with. Add in anything you have around the house―honey, blueberries, granola. You name it, it can work.

Great Value Sugar Snap Pea Stir Fry ($2.72)

I thought all frozen veggies were cheap. Apparently, I was wrong. I went to our stir fry veggies taste test to just grab the first placer and it comes in above the $10 bench mark. That means we’re grabbing the second place finisher, Walmart’s Great Value sugar snap pea stir fry veggies, for a much more modest $2.72.

Eckrich Andouille Smoked Sausage ($3.49)

We needed one more protein to end things off. Something filling but versatile. A smoked sausage link should be perfect. You can eat it on its own, add it into breakfast, lunch, or dinner to fill the plate, or dress it up and make a whole meal out of it. Andouille sausage is such an easy choice for which sausage to go with because it can deliver a slightly spicy kick to any occasion.
