The best hazelnut creamer will transform your bitter black coffee into something rich, nutty, and tasty. Yes, coffee may be a part of your daily routine, but hazelnut coffee? With its toasty flavor, hint of vanilla, and velvety creaminess, hazelnut creamer should make your morning brew a special treat.
Picture it with me: a mug of black drip coffee, steaming and bitter. And then—wait for it—the pour. Silky cream swirling into ebony depths, filling the room with the nostalgic aroma of roasted hazelnuts on a crisp autumn afternoon. One sip and, suddenly, you know true peace. No one can deny that hazelnut coffee is the ultimate comfort drink. It’s perfectly respectable to order year round, and, even in the middle of March, will always remind you of the cozy winter holidays.
For this taste test, we were looking for the best hazelnut creamers based on flavor and overall coffee experience. So we donned our barista beanies, brewed up a dark roast, and sipped disposable paper cups like coffee sommeliers. Which hazelnut creamer tastes like an $8 latte at your local hippie coffee shop? Which one would you be served in a thick mug at a cozy diner? We also wanted to be mindful of the debate surrounding lactose-free, oil-based creamers. So if you’re trying to avoid oil-based coffee creamers, there are some dairy-based ones for you on this list.
- Nutpods Hazelnut Almond + Coconut Creamer
-
Nutpods’ Hazelnut Almond & Coconut Creamer is poignantly coconut-forward. Personally, I was not a huge fan of this one, but the buck doesn’t stop with me. Other Sporked taste-testers really liked it and Emma Chamberlain swears by it. As a brand, Nutpods has amassed quite a cult following over the last decade, so they must be doing something right! And look, I totally get it. The nutty coconut blend lightly sweetens your coffee without distracting from the natural taste of roasted coffee beans. It’s one of the best hazelnut creamers for coffee purists. Nutpods creamers were created to be the healthy alternative to other coffee creamers, and they’re completely free of oils! Just be warned: If you’re the type of person to turn up your nose at natural peanut butter or vegan ice cream, this is not the best hazelnut creamer for you.

- Lucerne Hazelnut Coffee Creamer
-
Lucerne is the best hazelnut coffee creamer for the girlies who don’t have a huge sweet tooth (me). It’s great for quality cold brew or drip coffee, since the delicate notes of hazelnut and vanilla will enhance the flavor without overwhelming it. Lucerne’s creamer also contains high oleic soybean oil, which is considered the healthier alternative to regular soybean oil for its lack of trans fat and beneficial fatty acids. So if you prefer a subtle sweetness with a thinner, milkier consistency, you’ve come to the right place.

- Kroger Hazelnut Coffee Creamer
-
Some like it sweet, and if you fall into that category, this is the best hazelnut coffee creamer for you. Kroger doesn’t pull any punches with this syrupy hazelnut sweetness, and frankly, it’s delicious. Even my sugar-sensitive self loved this. It’s like sipping a dessert, and I’m all for it.

- Splenda Sugar Free Hazelnut Coffee Creamer
-
Splenda’s sugar-free hazelnut creamer is a remarkable feat of flavor science. Why? Because we couldn’t detect any off-putting notes of fake sweetener, which made it the best hazelnut coffee creamer for people cutting down on sugar. It has more of a mild sweetness overall, but for half the calories of other creamers on this list, no sugar, and a balanced flavor profile, it’s a great option for anyone trying to be mindful of their health. That said, this is an oil-based creamer, so if that’s something you’re trying to avoid, you might have to weigh the health benefits.

- Coffee-mate Hazelnut Liquid Coffee Creamer
-
Coffee-mate just gets it. When you daydream about warm hazelnut lattes on a cold fall evening, this rich, toasty, velvety-smooth (and yes, oil-based) creamer is exactly what comes to mind. When your favorite cozy breakfast joint suddenly decides to add flavored creamers to their menu, this is what they’re pouring into your thick diner mug. Here’s my one gripe, though: It seems like Nestle is slowly phasing out the “triple-churned” versions of their coffee creamers—which is a shame, because frankly, those are superior. Triple-churned creamer comes out richer, sweeter, and creamier than the standard version. If you find a Coffee-mate hazelnut creamer with a triple-churned sticker, grab it. Otherwise, the standard one (pictured left) will do just fine! On flavor alone, it’s still one of the best hazelnut coffee creamers we tried.

- Chobani Coffee Creamer, Hazelnut Flavored
-
Unlike Lucerne’s creamer, Chobani comes out thick. Which makes sense, considering it uses simple, dairy-based ingredients: milk, cream, cane sugar, and natural flavors. With a strong hazelnut sweetness and bright, creamy french vanilla undertones, this is the best hazelnut creamer for people who can handle dairy and prefer coffee with a decadent consistency. As I scribbled in my notes, “It’s Christmas in a cup.”

- Califia Farms Hazelnut Almond Milk Coffee Creamer
-
You know, I’ve never been an almond milk fan. I’m an oat milk girl through and through, but there’s something about Califia Farms Hazelnut Almond Milk creamer that really makes sense. The extra nuttiness of the almond milk is subtle, nuanced, and blends so perfectly with the toasty hazelnut. You end up with something more complex than your typical hazelnut creamer. If you’re trying to find a dairy-free hazelnut creamer that elevates your coffee to an overpriced indulgence from a hippie coffee shop, Califia Farms is the best hazelnut coffee creamer for you.
