To find the very best Poppi flavors, we tried them all. Twice. Our first taste test was back in 2023 and there are way more Poppi flavors now—good ones! We’re a little skeptical of the actual health benefits of prebiotic sodas, but we can’t deny that Poppi tastes good either way. Poppi root beer genuinely tastes like root beer. That should go without saying, but in the prebiotic soda world, it simply doesn’t. It has a nice, zippy sassafras flavor that covers the flavor of the stevia sweetener (yep, I’m sorry to report that Poppi is sweetened with stevia leaf). Put this in a frosty mug and you’ll be extremely happy enjoying it with a burger. —Gwynedd Stuart

There’s something about the creamy Poppi flavors that just works. This has a mellow, lovely vanilla cream flavor that blends nicely with the alternative sweeteners in the mix. You expect cream soda to be sweet and stevia is SWEET, so it just makes sense. —Gwynedd Stuart

- Poppi Cherry Cola

We REALLY didn’t like Poppi’s regular cola—prebiotic colas generally kind of suck—but if you’re craving a classic soda and want low sugar and some bacteria in the mix, this is the best Poppi flavor to try. The key is that this doesn’t really taste like cola, it tastes more like a black cherry soda. It works! —Gwynedd Stuart

- Poppi Cranberry Fizz

This seasonal Poppi flavor tastes like Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail but carbonated. Okay, it tastes like a diet cranberry juice cocktail, but all the same it has that nice tartness and subtle tannic sort of flavor you want from a cranberry-flavored bev. —Gwynedd Stuart

This Poppi flavor is sweet and citrusy and a little tangy. It tastes like a delicious drink and not a drink with purported health benefits. Don’t get confused, though. This isn’t strawberry lemonade. It’s strawberry lemon. The strawberry is more prominent and you just get a nice hint of lemon. —Jordan Myrick

For the most part, we like prebiotic sodas that don’t try to taste like sodas—the fruit flavors reign supreme, and this is a really unique, tasty one. I don’t tend to like wild berry or mixed berry flavor (pick a dang berry!), but this is a pretty perfect version of it, mostly because I’d say one berry is more prominent than the rest (blueberry). —Gwynedd Stuart

As with the cream soda, the vanilla creaminess in Poppi’s Orange Cream flavor really softens the stevia aftertaste a lot of other Poppi flavors have. This is a very perfect blend of tart orange soda and vanilla cream—a really well balanced drink that tastes like a Creamsicle. —Gwynedd Stuart

This is (still) the best Poppi flavor. It is so light and sweet and refreshing. Rose-flavored drinks are often so floral that they taste like air freshener. This, on the other hand, is perfectly balanced. You could casually drink this in the car on the way to Target or you could have a glass of this in place of wine during a nice dinner at home.
