Best Things We Ate This Week (Oct. 3-7)

Each week, the Sporked team sidles up to the tasting table and sets out to find the absolute best of the best packaged foods, the gold hidden in the grocery aisles. Each week we’ll bring you five standouts that truly rocked our taste buds and changed our lives—or at least our buying habits. Here are the best things we ate this week.

Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce

This “premium” oyster sauce really does feel like an upgrade from other sauces you’ll find at the store. The flavor is savory to the nth degree and somehow even more satisfying than we could believe. This sauce would be excellent used in a stir-fry or as a drizzle on cooked veggies. The very first ingredient on the label is “oyster extractives,” meaning Lee Kum Kee is not here to play games—they’re going all in for big oyster flavor.

Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles

If you like regular Fruity Pebbles, you will love these. The team unanimously agreed that Post should probably add little marshmallows to all its cereals. Eating a bowl of this is like having dessert for breakfast––it feels so wrong but we don’t wanna be right. The crunch of the marshmallows and the crunch of the cereal itself makes for a beautiful textural experience, aka something that I am now calling “big breakfast crunch.” Thank you, Post.

Flipz Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Over the years, Flipz has become the industry standard for milk chocolate covered pretzels, and now we know why. We’re no Willy Wonka, but the chocolate used to coat these pretzels feels top tier to us. It’s creamy, not at all chalky, and is sweet without overpowering the rest of the pretzel. Another key player here is the salt level. Flipz uses nice big chunks of salt on their pretzels before coating them, so each bite is the perfect combination of salty and sweet, all wrapped up into one cute little pretzel. Flipz is the king for a reason.

Trader Joe’s Unexpected Cheddar Cheese Spread

Trader Joe’s Unexpected Cheddar Cheese has long been a fan fave. Now, the brand’s Unexpected Cheddar Cheese Spread is here to take both TikTok and our taste buds by storm. It tastes like creamy parmesan and spreads like an absolute dream. This spread would be the highlight of any wine-and-cheese night, or simply make a great midday snack. Cheese spread this good makes us think: What a time to be alive.

Queso Mama White Queso with Diced Green Chiles

This queso came recommended by Sporked readers, and we have to say, it blew us away. It coats chips nice and evenly, it’s super savory and flavorful, and it’s not too spicy, so it’s great for mild queso lovers. Really, this cheese is just about as close as you can get to perfection. With both queso and smiles on our faces, we’d like to say, “Thank you, internet!”
